Newbie Stuff

Okay, I have been very definitely drafted into helping run a larp/dungeon crawl at the Raven’s Easter Camp.

I would like very much to be able to borrow some boffer weapons from the gear library (the fighting will be in a dark cave, and they’ll be safer).

I am not currently a paid-up member, and I don’t really understand how this affiliate thing works.

Would somebody please explain to me what I need to do, or point me to a thread that talks about it?

Thank you very much.
The idea behind an affiliate is to create an arrangement where both NZLARPS and you, your organisation or your company will benefit. eg paddywack.
This can be done in any number of ways. A simple example are discounts for our members for some sort of advertising for you.
To get the ball rolling or if you have any questions contact the President of NZLARPS by PM’ing me.
Once ready you will need to complete the affiliate application form:
docs/core/Application%20for%20Affiliate%20Status.doc
Once you have completed this form you will need come to a NZLARPS meeting to discuss the idea. The meetings are on the first Wednesday of every month.
More details will be given after you contact me.
That’s for affiliates. Being a member of nzLARPS sure helps. You’d fill out the form and send us a letter about what you’ve got in mind and how you’d like our help. We’d bring it up at a committee meeting, probably approve you, then send you all the help you could want. But a bing!

Edit: info for projects is here:

The difference with a project is that we’ll fund it as well, but we get any profits (and risk any losses) associated.

My Suggestion is to check out our website www.nzlarps.org
It has the info on projects and afficates, also if you want to join it can be done online easily from info on the website.
Once you have a look at the site PM me any questions you have.

As they said. If you renew/join as a member (very important since you’re asking to use our gear!) then you could run the event as a project. Then there’s no personal liability for yourself, but you need to show us the plans and so on before we can release any money.

Alternatively, run the event privately as an affilliate (you don’t have to join necessarily, but its a good idea…) and then we can leand you gear in exchange for… well, something. We could hire it to you, or you could let NZLarps members have a discount to play, or even give us some publicity at the event (I don’t know what the camp is, but it might be good to have some NZLarps flyers out for people who have more interest). It depends again on how much you want to borrow, what you want to borrow, when the event is (remember other events book the gear, too), risk of damage (how old are the participants? How experienced?) and so on.

If you fill in the forms quickly then we can debate it at the committee meeting on Wednesday. You could come along as well to give details if you’d like.

Or phone in if you don’t want to fly up just for our committee meeting

Anyone got a speaker-phone?

Yep, there is a speaker phone in the room we use anyway, all set to go.

Oops, forgot you were in Distant Parts. The talk of borrowing gear had me assuming that you were up in Akl.
