Cool, would be great to have a Dunedin board in the mix here.
More generally, I hear “it’s not an NZLARPS larp” quite a bit, and I think it might be worth clarifying the role of NZLARPS in relation to larp in NZ.
Per the constitution, the mission of the society is to advocate for and support ALL NZ larp. NZLARPS is not a collection of larps that get special treatment, its primary purpose is to promote larp in general.
NZLARPS does run some larps and larp conventions directly: the ones that are Projects of the society. All this means is that those larps run their finances through the society, and they use the gear pool that the society has accumulated using revenue from Project larps. This is really handy, it’s an excellent service that I highly recommend to anyone running a non-profit larp who doesn’t want to front up their own money or wants access to (and to contribute to) a big gear pool. Project larps are awesome, but they are fundamentally just one specific way of promoting larp in NZ in general.
For everything other than money or using the gear library, it makes no difference whether your larp is a Project of NZLARPS or not - the society wants to support you equally. NZLARPS and its minions will happily put banners up on Diatribe for any NZ larp, give you public and private forums, calendarise and help promote your events (within budget limits), and will consider any other kind of appeal for help. Because we want all NZ larps to have the best chance to succeed, regardless of whether they are a project of the society.
At any rate, that’s how I see things and I think it’s how the society’s constitution describes its purpose.
