Just the jobby for fururistic shoot em up larps
I’ve thought about these myself. The Maverick and Longshot would work quite well for a modern LARP once painted. Prehaps a bunch of people keen on using these could buy some then we could all meet for a fun NERF war game sometime.
They look totally rad, but I question the value of soft projectile weaponary in dramatic larp. If someone designs a game where you need to hit people short-distance with futuristic weaponary then these are the short-term ticket.
Dress 'em up and they might work for old-fashioned blackpowder weapons, for which short range might make sense.
short range weapons would still work I think, these things would be a lot safer than other options, like airsoft or paintball.
the website claims they can shoot 30 feet, I would want to test this to see if it is true, or if that is just the extreme limit of thier range, and most real gunfights take place within ten feet anyway.
I think for something like the proposed Firefly game they would be perfect.

I am working on it, Steve and I are writing the rules, once they are finished i will put them out there.
I bought a couple of these last night and have had a lttle play. They are not “NERF” brand but another brand called “FunStuff” which is a little cheaper than “NERF”
one is a little one shot palm gun and it has respectable hitting power at about ten, fifteen, feet. It works off pump power and when fully pumped it rocks.
the other one owrks off a spring and it can be a little gutless if it is not fully cocked but it is still ok.
You can also packs of 16 darts for reloads for $5
I reckon what we should do is goon a shopping mission to buy a few and then head over to the barracks or something and shoot the place up, really test them out.
and even if the guns themselves dont work I think the darts themselves will be the perfect thing for the No Mans Land Larp, They are not as soft as you think and they fly quite a distance.
I have a crate of NERF guns I brought from the UK.
One 5-shot minidart, six twin-shot standard dart, and three three-shot rockets. Also several packets of extra ammo as it gets lost a lot.
The middle size was proposed for use in the Stargate game but not used in the end. They are bright green nice handheld things.
If anyone wants to come over and playtest some of them then feel free…
Sweet
Lets make a date, I am really keen to test these things for a larp that me and steve are working on.
how much was the crate landed BTW
The crate wash shipped from the UK with all my other things when I moved here a few years ago. The guns originally came in a shipment from the US along with a huge number of others for all the people in my previous office.
One weekend afternoon would be good. I’m about this weekend if you want to call 09 26 525 88
