Mature (!) ex UK LARP and RPGer looking to get back in to the genre after 3 years out of it.
Anyone in or near Nelson area to share support/travel etc?

Nelson aint too far from Wellington proper, at which we have a strong Larp community. While I don’t advocate jumping the ferry or soundsair to get to Welly for a 3hr theatreform larp, I would suggest you have a look at 33AR - our Weekend Campaign larp, and Hydra, our Weekend Larp convention
If table top is your thing as well, we run a convention on Wellington Anniversary Weekend (@21st Jan) each year where there is a mix of 3 hour Larps and Tabletop RPG running the gammut of all systems and flavours.

Wellington is probably your closest bet, I’m afraid. You could potentially start something in Nelson, but they don’t have a big history of Larping/roleplaying. There used to be a wargaming and magic the gathering scene that might still exist there. I know a bunch of people who larp who are from Nelson, but most of us didn’t start until after we had left.
