Neatsfoot oil vs Dubbin

Has anyone had any practical experience using neatsfoot oil to condition/soften new leather goods?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neatsfoot_oil

I’m looking to soften some shiny new stuff and can’t find any Dubbin (which Moo suggested I use, bless her) but got tipped off to this stuff.

Anyone here used it before?

For dubbin try army surplus stores or those places in the malls that resole shoes…if you haven’t already

I found dubbin at a real olde tyme shoe/hardware store. Hurrah!

I always use Neatsfoot oil on my tramping boots (which are steelcap work boots of leather) to make sure they are soft enough that they don’t rub. You just use a soft cloth to rub the oil into the leather the night before you use them.
