NaLarpWriMo 2012?

Last year I floated the idea of a “National Larp Writing Month” (NaLarpWriMo), modelled on NaNoWriMo. In the end I was the only person who actually did it (and the edited product of my fevered imagination will be running at Hydra). But I’m wondering if anyone is interested in trying again this year.

Timing-wise, the advent of Hydra means April no longer really works. So what month does? We want to avoid Hydra and Chimera, and their immediate leadups - and ideally have games ready to run at those cons next year. We probably also want to avoid uni exams, and the January-February con season. So when does that leave? May? June? October? Anyone have any preferences?

I am tentatively intrigued by this idea, not least because I’m halfway through writing one game and have an idea for another one. I am also le busy, so setting time aside to actually do stuff is usually the only way it’ll get done

As Matt’s writing partner, I approve of this idea.

May/June are probably too busy for me (Teonn, wedding, honeymoon, Conquest of Mythodea) so I’m going to vote for October.

(Note: Matt, I still want to get 13 A.M. done in time for Chimera!)

Sounds like a deal

(Stealth edit: Also, 13 A.M sounds like a great name for a time travelling/mind bending game!)

yeah i would probably be up for it… probably… especially if i can get a co writer … or two…

I could been keen.

This is tempting. I’m going to write a game for Chimera, and if this comes after Chimera I’d be tempted to write another one for this. Got a few ideas kicking around my head, and need a push to get them on paper.

So apparently there’s a National Game Development Month in June.

This could give me some motivation to get “Galaxia 20” written in time for Chimera. I vote that we choose a month thats a few months before Chimera. So that leaves June or july. Oh wow. I just realised chimera is only 3 months away. :open_mouth:

So, given that its already September, shall we agree to do this in October (when I’m horrificly busy, but on larps, so its good)?

ive actually already started, but can i get someone with experience (looks at ryan)to have a look at it for me?

October sounds good for the larp writing month, I’m keen to get a scenario for Chimera 2013 done early.

Happy to have a look Zanni, email me at ryanpaddynz@gmail.com

I’ve already started mine with Scott, writing a game for Hydra. Maybe a bit too late for others now but… why wait?

Update, 16 character drafts done (very rough). Primary list of props done. Setting document done.
