I’ll try to explain this as well as I can without giving away too much of the plot I have in mind.
This would a medieval fantasy game based in a world where the religion has complete domination over the common people. The campaign starts two years after the Church offically declared that the people are at war and called for all who are capable must take up arms and defend themselves. Since then no army has been moved and no violence at all has occurred.
The peoples who inhabit this world are as follows:
Commoners: No matter what social class they may be, a human in this world has always been referred to as one of the ‘Common’ race. As the other races are so few, it’s a fitting enough name. The vast magority of players in this game would be commoners, assuming I end up making another race playable.
Gods: The Eight divine religious leaders of the Common people. They have ruled over them as far back as history remembers. No one knows anything of their age, but they appear to be mortal as they eat and sleep like anyone else. They are extremely powerful, yet rule justly for the most part.
Guardsmen: Little is known about what the Guardsmen are, except that they are not like common people. They are the heavily armoured elite soldiers who serve the Guards directly. No one knows what they look like, as they are forbidden to reveal their faces. What little of them is revealed (around the mouth when wearing a helmet and the eye-holes of the veal) shows they have dark red skin. I am considering making the guardsmen playable.
The game would be a similar system to Mordavia, as I think that’s a good way of keeping combat simple. There is no magic, and there would be far less combat than a Mordavia game as the game would be designed for those who want to dig through the vague clues and history to find out what’s going on.
