MVEX and tasklarps

Larp Experience has a writeup about a game called “MVEX”. which is basicly “Pacific Rim: the larp”, about giant mechs battling monsters:

But it also introduces an interesting piece of terminology:

MVEX is a tasklarp. Your character does tasks, tasks have consequences, they deal with them.

Which means its basicly a game made of interlocking sub-games - kindof like a megagame, but (I assume) with the tasks focused towards driving roleplaying when you’re not engaged in them. Which is an interesting engine to drive a game , though obviously it requires a lot of design and playtesting to make sure the tasks are individually fun, but also interact positively, and that the overall goal is either achieveable or (like Pandemic) fun to lose.
