The documentary film ‘Mordavian Truth’ is screening 9:30pm on the Documentary channel, Saturday 17th July (this Saturday). Its a great film that is finally getting attention from media. So check it out and see one of the LARP’s that helped the NZ LARP community really grow.

Have a lovely day,
Hans

Why exactly is this not hosted somwhere? Alot of the community members are in this film but no one in the society has a hard copy of it…

Because up until now the makers had hoped to enter it in a doc contest that was condiational on it not being published anywhere. Now that ship has sailed I beleive…once it is up on the doco channel it will probably get hosted somewhere.

I am going to see if I can get a digital copy of this. I know someone with Sky and a hard drive recorder.

I’d prefer to buy a DVD from the creator to support them, but that hasn’t been presented as an option.

Yes, it probably has been way to long for the doco to get out to the Larpers. Perhaps there should be at screening at the next convention. Im sure Adam and Gareth will be happy to give the Larp community a few copies (but dont quote me on that). There has been no official release of the film and there might not ever be one unless someone pics the doco up after its been on the doco channel.

Anyway i will talk to Adam and Gareth about it and make sure someone gets copies of it. I am sure they did not intend to leave it this long but after Adam moved out of the country the doco’s progress got slower.

Hansi

So, did anyone tape this?

Also, my parents emailed me this that they found in the TV Guide:

I didn’t tape it as such, but it’s on the MySky (oh the joys of still living at Home), so if I can video it off that (or get a digital copy through the magic of technology), I’d be happy to share.

I’ve always wanted to be shadowy.

I tried to get a copy but that fell through. Perhaps if someone could upload it to youtube?

nzLARPS does not condone unauthorised distribution of other people’s intellectual property. Can all this discussion of piracy and online distribution of this documentary please stop?

I saw it at the screening for NZLarps a couple of years ago, and I’d be interested in owning a copy. Perhaps the creators can make dvds available for purchase (or free :stuck_out_tongue:)?
Or maybe a copy or two for the society that they can then screen for interested members/have a memento of Mordavia.

Hi Folks,

It has taken a long time to finally get the doco shown. Our initial goal was to have it played in film festivals but unfortunately that dream didn’t come true. So we’re stoked to have had it shown on Saturday.

Now that it has been shown we can start thinking about how to distribute it. I’m in discussion with Gareth and Hans about the best way to do this. Please don’t post the full film on places like Youtube. When I know more I will post again.

Thanks,

Adam-doco

We absolutely do not support it being posted on YouTube. I think many of the community members would be happy to buy a DVD.

The only reason people are discussing such things is because they want to see it but there is no legit way to obtain a copy. If you’re working on fixing that, then I for one don’t believe any of us would want to short-change you.

A little bird told me (well, actually my partner’s Mum sent me an email) that this is rescreening on Friday night on the Sky Documentary channel.

Sweet…

What Anna is getting at, ( I believe ) is the fact that these items are screened on pay tv (sky), so in theory, you have to pay to watch it. Putting an item on YouTube, that you got from Sky, or other pay-per-view media (rented dvd, bought movie etc) is illegal. Even items on free tv (1, 2, 3 etc) can still be under copyright infringement laws. Making a recording to watch at home (mysky, vcr etc) is fine, but broadcasting in public areas (pubs, clubs, internet etc) is not.

Has anyone heard if Adam is going to selling copies?
I am keen to watch this, but that is a bit hard here in the UK.

In all seriousness I was shocked to find out this was made by a larper. This is quite possibly the worst advertising for larping I have ever seen that was made by a member of the community.

It wasn’t made by a larper . Adam is a friend of Hansi, who larps, but Adam doesn’t larp himself (except when we coopted him as an NPC during filming). So it’s definitely an outsider’s view of a larp group.

I don’t particularly see it as an advertisement for larping either. It’s kinda warts-and-all, and focused more on the trials and tribulations of some individual larpers than on larp as a general phenomenon.
