Minutes of the 2006 AGM, 13-09-06

Sorry for the lateness of this guys. Practically every technological device I’ve touched in two weeks has stopped working. Including my internet at home (for up to a week, three times), and both my external hard drive, and its replacement (after two weeks, the same day as replaced.) Plus I lost my phone for a while, and our home phone stopped working twice.
Technology is the work of the Devil. :imp: Maybe I’ll become Amish?

President’s Report:
Welcome to NZLARPS first AGM.
Its strange to think that just over a year ago there were about 8 of us sitting round in my lounge thinking about how we could help Ryan with the running of Mordavia from cleaning to looking after gear. From this humble beginning NZLARPS was born as a full society.
I remember we had trouble getting enough people to full all the committee positions let alone the thought about getting society members which was all a bit nerve racking and luckily appears will not be a problem tonight.
Also we were very lucky Ryan was willing to trust this new society headed by someone he didn’t really know (me) and gave the society all of mordavia gear and as well as the game itself as a project.
Since these humble beginnings the society has grown in leaps and bounds in the last year.
=> grown to 46 members on the books, which is good as people are keen to support larping, and take part in and try new larps as well.
=> Importantly many past and futures larps on the books; Og’s cavemen, Executive decisions USA Presidents, Stargate with SG21, Mayday with pulling down both the government and the sky tower, Lost on an Island, Mordavia, Craigs Space Opera and only next week the pirate larp. .
=> Setting up a structure to help people with bringing new ideas into fully fledged larps.
=> A number of associations and friendships have been created, with Paddywack weapons, America (Auckland Uni’s roleplaying club, Skirmish and Nightmare Circle)

All of this could not have been possible without all hard work put in by the people on the outgoing committee and I would like to individually give thanks and highlight some of work been done to everyone:
Starting with Rhiannon for what is really a thankless job as the secretary. Brilliant minutes normally within 2 days of the meeting at the most and all the day to day tasks of membership details including form creation and helping with marketing of the society.
Steve who without the society would have had major setup problems, not only has he set up the accounts for the society but he had all the inside knowledge on how a society needs to be structured.
Mike for taking over all the gear, along with storage but also helping in the creation of new gear, such as the new cavemen weapons for example.
AJ, for taking over the project officer role in the middle of the year and keeping us updated with all the new larps. This is a role which started out rather vague and he has really taken this role and given it a purpose that has become very important to the committee on finding out what the actual larps are up to.
Craig who all his work in a huge range of areas including website stuff, the odd newsletter, arranging tonight’s venue to creating new larps.
Lucy for community work including creating our first professional acting training evening.
Nikki for jumping in to helping where required.
Whoever ends up on the new committee, the bar has been set high, and I see the society going even further in the next 12 months.
And lastly I want to thank all the members for supporting the creation of the new society over the last year and I urge you to try a hand at many of the new larps upcoming over the next year.

Can we please get all the reports added.

I did my speech off the cuff so I can’t copy it in here. Basically, the important bit was the financial report, which is already detailed above.
