Okay I saw sky has a program advertised on Channel 4 for 9.30 tonight (Saturday), a show that ‘could’ be interesting.

Called Face off, it’s a reality TV show, like Project Runway where make up and effects artists are competing to win some prize or another. They basically get given a task and have to make some one up and then judged by industry experts. Tonights one is making Zombie make up for characters for Alice’s adventures in Wonderland.

Now the show might be terrible, but I plan to watch for tips, tricks and ideas.

Try not to get too attached to the show. This is season 3 and they have only managed to show half of the two previous seasons before it dissapears. This season is really good though, I have my fingers crossed they show the whole of it …

I keep trying to watch the other serieses online but they keep going nyer nyer you’re not american.

This show is a makeup artists geekfest! So far they’ve had to design POTC sea creature pirates, Star Wars aliens, chinese dragons and now Alice zombies. It doesn’t get much better than this for me. :smiley:

The Alice in Wonderland zombies were good, but the POTC pirates from two weeks ago were amazeballs.

I liked the Hatter best. The winning Red Queen prosthetic was amazingly detailed (2 layers moving separately, pretty cool) but overall, I wasn’t as taken with it as the judges. The Hatter was extensively zombiefied, had a cool backstory and most importantly for me, was recognizably the Mad Hatter from Alice. Most of the others, if I’d seen them out of context, I would have had no clue what they were, aside from zombies.

I sumbled upon the series a few months back when they were playing it suring the day on TV3. It’s utterly fascinating and some of the creations and effects they come up with are rather inspiring. :slight_smile:
