Live Roleplaying in Wellington, what do you want?

Hi guys,

Over the last few days, fueled by some great live roleplaying at both Chimera and Confusion, there’s a growing group of us ‘locals’ who are keen to see more games in Wellington.

We’re getting together on Sunday, 6th September at 1pm at JJ Murphy’s on Cuba St to get a feeling for the types of games people want to play, gauge interest and get as many peoples thoughts as we can to get things started off on the right foot.

It’s our short-term goal to run something by the end of the year and our long-term goal to create an active and high quality scene in Wellington. To that end, we’d like to welcome everyone with any interest to join us for this initial meet up and help us shape the direction of LARP in Wellington.

We plan to discuss exciting thing like…

The kinds of games we should look at running here, no point aspiring to create the “worlds finest post apocalypse game” if no one has an interest in that genre or running games with lots of action, if people want Kapcon style convention games.

The frequency with which you’d like them to be run.

Great games you’ve participated in and what made them so.

Anything else you think is relevant.

If you can’t make the meet-up but have ideas, drop us a private message or email us at Jackie at amphigori at gmail dot com .

After the meeting we’ll post up a summary on Diatribe so people can see how things are heading.

Cheers and look forward to seeing people on the 6th.

Bryn.

As I’ve said on the private emails - I’ll be there!

I’ll be going, to discuss plans for one-offs, and how we can help Scott do a successful Wellington run of “Black Hart of Camelot”. And I’m hoping there’ll be some interesting discussion of possible campaigns as well.

Shall be there,

Steph

I’m there.

As I’ve said I can’t make that first meeting, but I think people here know how I feel already and I will be backing anything you guys want to try.

I am actually keen on the Steampunk Idea as I said before and Gremlin I am happy to play or be crew for that game as needed.

Awesome, thanks for the vote of support…
if you need me for anything - ask

Steam punk drools

Whee! I can post now!

I’m really excited about this, and super-pleased to get so many warm fuzzies from people outside of Wellington. Thanks for your encouragement and support everyone who has emailed me or chatted to me!

I’m pleased to report I’ve even had a few nibbles from not only people who aren’t generally into larps, but people who are new to RP in general.

The meeting on the 6th should be awesome. But more than that, I’m feeling pretty positive about actually getting things off the ground and committed to doing everything I can to make sure that happens.

I’m gonna be in wgtn, but leaving on the 4th :frowning:
Let us know what comes out of it though!

would love to go but will be heading up to akl for a week. however if there are any more meets before the end of the year i’m keen.

Bumping this as a reminder we’re meeting this Sunday, 6 September, at 1pm at JJ Murphy’s on Cuba St.

I was thinking we’d go alllll the way to the third floor where it’s a bit quieter and there’s more room to spread out - but we can play it by ear. I’m sure we’ll find each-other!

Thanks so much to everyone who made it - quite a good turnout!

Stay tuned for some exciting updates to come based on today’s meeting. Woo!*

(I totally heard Rick Flair in my head when I typed that… )
