Has anyone tried painting liquid latex directly onto fabric? Does it soak in and stick or does it peal off? If the fabric is reasonably smooth (say a cotton T shirt) does the texture of the fabric show through? Does the fabric still stretch?
etc…

From experience of getting latex on clothes, it gets in and stays. Cloth is sometimes used in masks to give them strength. I think you’d get a stiff but flexible result, and how much the fabric texture shows would depend on how much latex you used.
Hey,
I can’t remember - does liquid latex have to be hot to go on, or merely warm?
I’ve always used it at room temperature.
From memory of holiday camp craft workshops (so don’t take as gospel.)
The fabric will suck up liq latex like a sponge. Once dry, will make a fairly waterproof membrane. You will still see the underlying weave. Extra layers will smooth out the textile weave.
After 2 - 3 layers, only wrinkles in the fabric will be visible. Maybe more if using thinned latex?
Only one way to be sure, and do a test with a few different swatches of fine to coarse weave.
