Top row - left to right light leather suitable for shoes and pouches:
1 - light brown soft 2mm leather ideal for turn shoes/pouches
2 - burgundy brown soft 2mm leather ideal for turn shoes/pouches
3 - dark brown stiffer 2mm leather ideal for armour straps or costume/larp vambraces
4 - black soft 2mm leather ideal for turn shoes/pouches
Bottom row - left to right heavy leather suitable for armour:
5 - light brown softer 3-5mm leather - embosses and decorates well (it isn’t a ‘russet’ or ‘tool’ leather though) - less dense/softer than 6 and 7 below because it hasn’t been through the same rollers to press it
6 - dark brown 3-4mm heavy leather - ideal for SCA armour - hardens well in boiling wax and this is what I use for armour that needs to actually be protective (this is the most expensive leather I have).
7 - black stiff 3-4mm leather for larp armour - I’ve had mixed success hardening this leather in boiling wax
This isn’t all the colours I have, but I have reasonable quantities of most of these leathers. I have another heavy leather similar to 5 but heavy and stiffer. It’s in longish strips that want to be made into a Roman style lorica segmentata…
