LARP Sword Maintenance

During the Teonn day game the other day, my sword got a bit of mud on it, which isn’t a surprise, since it was such a muddy day with a heck of a lot of fighting going on. I made sure that there wasn’t any big clumps of mud or anything left on it when I put it away, but there are still some small patches of dry mud on it currently. I figure that can’t be good for it, but I don’t know much about the latexing and all that, so I don’t really know what to do to clean it properly without risking damaging it at all. I would have probably tried just using a damp cloth already, but I’ve heard the swords don’t really like getting wet, so I wasn’t sure if that was a bad idea or not.

Do those who know more than me have any suggestions on what I should do to clean my sword? And/or advice on LARP sword maintenance in general? Just in case it makes a difference, it’s one of the Palnatoke ones Paddywhack brings in. Thanks

Wipe it with silicone sprayed onto a cloth.

I thought maybe all that would do was protect the mud

But if anyone else has any other sword (or any other LARP weapon for that matter) maintenance tips, I’d love to hear them, if just for future reference.

Yes. I have an unopened one of those already, you can take that, it’s exactly the same.

The whole order is overdue anyway though… I’m expecting it as soon as TNT learn how to find Westmere.
