Larp safe throwing spear

So I’ve had a thought, a throwable spear. Build like a big arrow. Any ideas on larp safety? Would it be too dangerous to get a foam noodle and stick a soft end on it. maybe weigh it down with a PVC core. It doesnt need to be as strong as a combat spear, because it shouldnt be used in combat. Do you guys reckon it would be too dangerous?

I’ve seen clips from European larps where they have throwing spears.

There’s a couple of tutorials from a quick perusal of Google that look promising. It could be doable but would need some safety testing first.

You’d also need to put a thrust-safe head on them, just in case. There are design specifications in the rules to some UK larps (Empire and Odyssey), but they’re tricky to build properly.

I’ve used the LARP-safe javelin they used in Odyssey in the UK. it is basically an oversized arrow with a stab-safe head. About 1 metre long, shaft like a staff, 4 foam flights and a longish squishy head. Best way to throw them was by holding the tail with fingers on the end.

What about just using something like a Nerf Vortex ball - the ones that look a bit like a rugby ball but with a tail.
