*assuming it’s not aimed at someones eye or groin or whatever

While I’ve voted, I’d also note that the people whose opinion actually matters are the GMs of the game you propose to use it in. They have the ultimate say on safety in their game.

There was an incident at Chimera where a plastic knife broke and someone’s hand got cut. (Or scratched? I wasn’t there, but enough for the first aid kit, anyway.)

So called “larp safe” weapons are a matter of degree. Pretty much any larp safe weapon can injure if used incorrectly. I’d suggest that the blade of the weapon be flexed heavily to see if it will break in a dangerous way or not and passed if it doesn’t.

A lot of the $2 shop ones aren’t suitable, but I have see ones which are.

I’d say no…I’ve seen one used in a larp before (in the old days)…

I would suggest against it…that being said little knives like that are relitively easy/cheap to make out of foam off cuts.

Part of the issue is the little spring loaded knives are not the standard fare in any recent LARP. I think we’re all just safer if we stick to a standard larp safe dagger.

It is a little late but Ryan’s gear is really reasonable, particularly the RFB line. I think a 40cm dagger was about $30.

Also, as stated, I have a dagger you can use, it just isn’t that flash looking. If you want a “knife” I can make you a coreless “knife” very easily. You just won’t be able to block anything with it.

awesome sauce, yeah the only reason i didn’t go paddywacks was because i need something under like 15-10cm

Ahhh a throwing dagger from Ryan’s new range would have been perfect… they do about 4 styles. And <$20 each.

But if you want a knife I’ll make one.

squee!! ty lyke dis but medievil i kan giv u $

Ok then. It may not be pretty but it’ll be safe.

I have a larpsafe kitchen knife which I made a few years back which looks very similar to the ones you posted if you want

yes plz, yay everyone is nice 2 me

2 peoples hands and someones face

BTW Careful with the realy short weapons. A little movement and a larp safe short weapon can turn into a not so larp safe fist.

2 peoples hands and someones face[/quote]So, yeah - lesson learned for all of us about prop use.

I remember one time I saw a larpsafe utility knife of my mother’s kitchen. It was so cool.
