Larp Design - Interactions

As is usual, Chimera has me thinking about some of the meta-concepts around larping and larp design.

So I am wondering what people see as the kinds of interactions that typically take place in a larp. I’d like to focus on Flagship-level larps as these typically have more varied interactions.

Here is a list of some interaction types that I have noticed, so please post more that you have noticed, and any sub-types you think apply:

  • Status-probing (identifying the existing status of an entity)
  • Resource exchange
  • Positive threats (If you do this, I will do that)
  • Negative threats (If you don’t do this, I will do that)
  • Agreements / contracts

Romance and friendship?

Environmental - things like there’s a prop with a tag on it if you check it out, or someone might put a trigger symbol on a picture on the wall. Also passive environmental stuff, like having IC food and music, or a game of cards happening, stuff like that.

Behaviour modifying effect - e.g. poison/drugs, mental influence.

Legal consequences - e.g. arrest
