Knitting tutorial

Following the talk we had today at Ravenholme Sewing Bee and the stuff discussed in this thread, we came up with the idea that we need a knitting tutorial.

It looks like quite a lot of ladies are interested in knitting in general and in making there own jumper in particular. I myself have made one jumper, and I’m gonna make more. I’m happy to share whatever knowledge and experience I have, and maybe others will be willing too, as I know some of you made very beautiful jumpers

Main issues to look at would be:

  • Jumper patterns. There are lots of them, and Elizabethian jumper will be very different from Victorian one.
  • Yarn that you use for knitting. The most popular types are cotton (also known as metal) and wool (also known as bamboo). Cotton is harder and more solid, but that also makes it uneasy to cut. I personally prefer wool, it’s really cuttable, and you can get it from Spotlight. However, many ladies like the cotton yarn idea, so we can discuss it.
  • Additional fabrics that you use for lining and covering your jumper (linen, silk, velvet :unamused: )
  • Lacing, eyelets, hooks, zippos, whatever else you use to make your jumper sit properly.
  • Anything else about jumpers you wanted to know but were afraid to ask :unamused:

We don’t set the time or anything else for the tutorial yet, but since the idea has arisen, we can hold discussions in this thread.
