Thanks to everyone for signing on to what I’m sure will be a very enjoyable game. Chimera 09 marks the one-year anniversary of Jared’s Knightshade: Realms, and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support. If you’re new to Knightshade, then a hearty welcome! We hope you enjoy both ours and the miriad of other games on offer. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone there.
So, without further ado…
ATTENTION ALL REGISTRANTS FOR KNIGHTSHADE @ CHIMERA
(and those still wishing to register)
It’s time to organise character submissions!!! Due to the nature of this particular game, there are a few variations to character creation, and a few points to make you all aware of. THIS IS IMPORTANT, SO READ IT TWICE!!
“Nature of this game” you ask? “Why, yes” I answer - due to the intent of Chimera 09, this game is designed to be a one-off event, seperated from the current major story arcs. I’ll be honest - that’s probably not going to happen. BUT, I do need to make it abundantly clear that previous in-game knowledge will have no impact or relevance to the events about to unfold.
The next point to be aware of is that this game will feature four factions. Three of these factions, known as the Mage-college factions, will be the character-base envoys made up of those who have opted to play their own generated character. The fourth faction, which shall henceforth be known as the the “Vagrant”, is for those who are more interested in what would normally be considered crewing, or otherwise want to be invloved but don’t want to play their own/a specific character role. All factions will have their own plots, agendas, and goals, so don’t think you’d be missing out whichever way you choose
On a similar note, in-game experience also needs to be factored. While we’d love everyone to just play their beloved existing characters, this would obviously give some players a huge advantage over others. So, to mitigate this and put everyone on a more level playing field, the following additions will apply to ALL characters for Chimera 09;
(NB; this only applies those who wish to be part of the Mage-college factions. Those wishing to play as part of the Vagrant will have characters created for them)
New characters will have 16cp to spend for character creation, and may purchase secondary advantages. (This deviates from the normal 12cp and “primary advantages only” restriction). Also, new characters will have double the starting razu (coinage) to purchase gear and equipment. This is after extra income sources such as professions and nobility.
Existing characters may be submitted, so long as they are not worth more than 16cp, ie a character that has not earned and spent more than 4cp after creation. If your character is worth less than 16cp, you may add to them the difference in CP to bring them up to par. Also, if you have less than double your starting razu in gear, you may spend the difference on further equipment.
If your current character has more than 16cp spent, but you still want to play them, I would suggest making a ‘clone’ of them, as if it were a new character (as above).
All existing characters submitted will need both a “before” and “after” included, se we can easily track the adjustments.
In all cases, characters should be made to one of four archetypes, though obviously how you do that is up to you. The archetypes are Warrior, Rogue, Mage, and Healer. These archetypes represent the character spaces available. There are limited numbers of each, AND limited numbers per faction - so get your character in quickly to secure your desired spot!
Additionally, there will be CP awarded, just like any other game. For those that survive (and there’s never a guarantee
), new characters will need to be adjusted from the additional creaton rules if you wish to carry them into the regular campaign (and hopefully you do!), while existing characters will simply benefit from a bit of extra CP and story. I will discuss this with individual players afterwards.
All characters should be sent (preferrably as a word document) to knightshade.larp@gmail.com. If you have any questions about creating your character, concepts or ideas you wish to discuss, or even just questions about Knightshade - please don’t hesitate to ask
If you wish to play the Vagrant, please email anyway, stating this as your preference. For all discussion, please use the Knightshade-specific threads.

“So, traveller, you have answered the summons of the College Masters? Very well, then, very well. Just put your name down here then, and I’ll forward it on to the Dean of Adminitsration. There’s records to be kept, accounts, all that malarky. Man makes more work for himself than he finishes, if you ask me, but still, best to keep him thinking he’s in charge. Still, Master Garron is the one you’ll be dealing with… or was it Master Kegar? Randolf? Ah well, it’s of no matter… Just put down where you’re staying, so we can contact you easy enough, and don’t leave town - as soon as we have enough of you, we’ll be wanting to get you away pretty quickly…”

[You] “Woohoo! OOK!!”
[You] “Yay!
[You] “Oooooh, shiny!”
