KiL Quest III (published 2010)

KiL Quest began as a one page LARP in 1994, with a focus on out and out combat between a small group of heroes against a horde of adversaries. In 2005, KiL Quest II was a discussion document formed with the input of local Rangatahi. In 2010, twenty KiL Quest III books were printed, 72 pages (two blank pages). In 2011, DriveThruRPG.com has the updated pdf, which sees the sample adventure expanded upon, and smaller NPC sheets (or cards if you prefer). This pdf is 72 pages with no blank pages.

A character is created by selecting a class (there are six – not counting ‘Bots), and purchasing skills to expand upon the base skills a character has at the start. OP’s, or Option Points (character points and experience points) are used to do this. Using skills are either automatic upon declaration, or, in the case of non combat skills, testing by finding out the difficulty VS skill level and using Jan ken to see the results.

Rather than spend hours reinventing the wheel, KiL Quest III religion is based on Judeo-Christianity and its polar opposite, simply called ‘The Evil’. Players will notice that the Judeo-Christianity in KiL Quest is not the same as accepted norms of Christianity. This is deliberate to define the Kingdom of Infinite Light and its take on religion in the game world.

Just a quick addition. KiL Quest III is NOT a serious LARP, there is a lot of comedy involved (Hurt people skills, Cheat cards, experience for in character jokes, etc).

Hoping to run KiL Quest III, Minor Problems, on the Friday night of Chimera as I need darkness to create a mood, and the big forested area for the same reason. 12+ players are required, maximum 6 Heroes (unless there is a 'Bot character - the maximum becomes 7), with an upper limit of 14 for the Crew (the more the scarier). The setting is in the Duchy of Petra, starting in the town of Fixit, and proceding to the village of Cephas to find more instructions. If you own a copy of KiL Quest III, as a player you will be entitled to ONE FREE Cheat Card, and you will be able to see where the adventure is taking place! Cephas is so obscure that it dosen’t even appear on the map, but a nearby ruin does. 8)
