KapCon XXII: Registration opens Monday!

[Apologies to people who receive this multiple times through multiple lists, or who are already aware of things through FaceBook]

It’s that time of year again - time to register for KapCon. You’ve all been there before, so you know what KapCon is: a two day gaming orgy in Wellington, with a 150 of your closest gamer friends. Same time, same place as last year: Wellington Anniversary Weekend (Jan 19th and 20th), at Wellington High school.

Registration opens on Monday 15 October at 8pm. From then on, you’ll be able to register at:

kapcon.org.nz/?q=regform

If you do not have an account on the website, you can create one here

kapcon.org.nz/?q=user/register

(Sadly due to a tide of spammers I have to manually approve all accounts. This may take a couple of days, and if your username looks like spam, it might get purged. In order to avoid this, a) have a username that looks like ham rather than spam; b) email kapcon@gmail.com so I can keep an eye out for it; and c) include a real (or real-looking) physical address. And bug me if account approval takes longer than a few days).

While you’re waiting for registration to open, you can check out some of the excellent games being run here:

kapcon.org.nz/?q=games22

Of course, we need more of them. With ~150 attendees, we’re looking at having to run more than 80 timetabled sessions, plus larps and GoD to meet the demand. So, if you’d like to run a game, please fill out the form here:

kapcon.org.nz/?q=gamereg

This year’s larp is “Fragrant Harbour”, inspired by Hong Kong, wuxia, and Chinese literature:

kapcon.org.nz/?q=FragrantHarbour

If you’re not a larper, we will also be running a formal round 3.5 on Saturday night. We’ve added a box on the form so you can indicate if you’re intereste din playing, will be attending the larp, or taking a break; we’ll use this to work out how many games to put on.

An as usual, we’re running a scenario design competition. So if you have a scenario you’re proud of, please enter it. Details here:

kapcon.org.nz/?q=sdc

Note that we’ve ditched anonymous entry and have a new category this year for shorter “scenario sketches”.

As always, if you have any questions, email me on "kapcon@gmail.com".
