Kapcon 2007 LARP: The Flight of the Hindenburg

Looks nice and pulpy.

I’m looking at going down to Wellington for this. It’s not on until Jan 2007, but the organisers start recruiting players quite early. The characters are all written by the organisers to create a tangled web of relationships and conflict, but you can make requests for a character type to play and they’ll write it in.

Count me in. I’m heading to Wellington in September, too, so I’ll try and meet some of the larping folx down there…

I think this looking to be a great event. I’m going to try to make it also.

They’ve posted a list of characters:

This event is now open for bookings.

I’m booked in as “Colonel Victor von Frankenstein - A colonel in the Wehrmacht’s medical corps, he is making a name for himself in organ transplant technology.”

Sweet role! There are heaps of nifty famous characters left. Looking forward to a trip down to Wellers for this, meeting people from the larp scene down there, and seeing how they do it.

I’m still keen to go but don’t want to commit yet.

I don’t know why but that picture made me rofl.

Could I ask one of you who ends up going to write a piece on it for the issue of Immersion?

Sure.

I’m flying down for this today, got a rough pulp Nazi costume sorted - this is my Prince William moment!

Very interested to see how larp is done at the other end of the island.

Have fun! I’m intersted to hear how it went.

It was very impressive, huge fun. Will write a review for the next Immersion magazine.

Here is the link to the photos taken at the larp.

cough splutter Steph! In an evening dress! With makeup and jewellery!

Looks damn good, too.

Yay! Thanks.

Would anyone be up for running Flight of the Hindenburg in Auckland? All the material is already written, so what’s left to do is mostly logisitical. Booking a venue, taking registrations and money, sending out character sheets to players, printing skill/character/item/etc cards, providing refreshments, decorating the venue, making props, and refereeing on the day.

It’s a theatre-style larp for 60 characters, and I thought it was excellent and well worth a re-run up here. I’d be happy to help out with it. Would probably need around 3 or 4 other people. The setting is bizarre and fantastical, and the whole experience is quite different to most of the larps up here so well worth a try for a change of pace.

I’ve asked the Wellington creators of it and so far they seem happy with the idea of a re-run.
