I just roughly calculated how many windows we’d have to paint on cardboard boxes to make a city.

Eek.

You’d need some very cheap basic grey paint for the base coat (emulsion? poster paint is probably too thin) and a spraygun would help, or else a big brush, and then probably use some sort of sponge stamp to place black-paint windows. Maybe get a piece of wood 30cm long, glue a whole row of foam squares to it, and use it to stamp a row of windows at a time…

I wish I had time to play with this. But I have a spawn instead.

Incidentally, we had a cute dinosaur costume for little Cathy (suit 18 months) and she was an excellent demolitions operator. But Meiling gave it away…

We shold go for local landmarks, the sky tower, the harbour bridge etc.

If we made up a model of the Auckland CBD we could probably get sponsership from the big name buildings (ASB, KPMG, Sky City etc) if the “profits” were donated to charity…

Stencels are the answer. Paint the buildings grey all over and then use stencels to do the windows.

I’d use left over house paint. It’s free from the Waitakere City Council.

It’s been nice knowing you Steve, I’m sure we’ll catch up in a decade or two

I believe Godzilla is 80m tall so a scale of 1:50 would work (a 1.6m human would be 80m at 1:50). A 10cm toy car would represent a 5m long car…
