John Rambo

He’s Back

I must admit i have a soft spot for Sly, he gets more bad press than he really deserves, but it looks like he has been taking action tips from Mel Gibson for this one, the action is heavy on the Shock and Gore.

At least he is not chasing Alqeada which is a good thing.

As a larper/lrper I find this trailer disturbing.
Disturbing because it would take a necromancer weeks to sew the body parts back together in order to make usable corpses again! Messy.

I am constantly amazed at the new level of technical skill in making bodies flying apart.

it raises the thought, if someone was to release a “Snuff” movie, would anyone be able to tell the difference

Yep!

The actors wouldn’t be so pretty and the lighting would probably suck.

And it wouldn’t look as real.

Nobody did. The first and most famous “snuff movie” wasn’t. They didn’t kill anybody in its making, but they claimed they did.

which one was that, aren’t “Snuff Flicks” an urban myth anyway.

That being said most of Tom Cruise’s latest movies could be Snuff Films, They certainly killed his carrer, well that and scientology.

oh my god i can hear the lawyers coming now ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!

The first snuff movie was meant to be the 1976 film “Snuff”. This was originally a film called “Slaughter” to which was added a final scene with what was purported to be a real murder by the film crew.

Though does a movie with footage from the Zarpruder film of the Kennedy assassination count as a snuff movie?

I must admit I am constantly amazed by the number of body bits that you see flying in modern TV and film. I even saw some bodies flying recently on some TV promos for ‘Pearl Harbour’. Let’s cut out all the crap and just bring back the gladiators.

We’ll I’d not pick the Zarpruder film as snuff.

I’d define a true snuff as one where the filming of the death is organised for the use and filmed specificly for the use in a non-propaganda film… So while the Zarpruder film isn’t (unless he was in on it)…

And also wouldn’t say the beheading videos from iraq or the shooting video from the koren war are snuff films, as they are documents of history or propaganda.

I would say that “***** ** *****” is.

“***** ** *****” is a famous art film with footage of real and fake deaths inclueding real exucutions that were filmed specificly for the use in the film. BTW before anyone goes and tries to find out what film I’m talking about and tries to download this, heres a WARNING: Due to the nature of this film without governmental approval it is a crime to own, possess or screen this film.

Also its a film that I do not condone or recomend watching…don’t get me wrong I love bloody gorey films from time to time (love the first 2 saw films last one not so good)…but the cheapening of human life in this film disgusted me…

If ***** ** ***** is the film that I think it is, then it is still available in some video stores. Never got it out myself as there is enough death in the world, I don’t need to encourage it.

Play death on the other hand… now where did I leave that boffer?

I think I saw this in the local video store only a couple of weeks ago, and was not impressed. No way I would hire it, and was surprised to see it there.

I have to admit the current trend in movies to portray the most realistic and graphic violence possible does worry me, the bar keeps getting lifted and directors seem to be trying to top each other, films like John Rambo, Saw, Pathfinder, and Mel Gibsons last two efforts I feel are setting a trend.

I am worried that soon things like Plot, character development, emotional engagement, and basic story will take a second place to number of vital organs hitting the wall at great speed.

which worries me because the Film industry can change what society considers acceptable.

Alista is right how long before the UFC competition turns into life and death gladitorial battles, using condemed death row prisoners as gladiators.

Thank god someone else thinks this. I though it was just me getting old and crusty.

I liked the first 2 saw movies…they had reasonable plots for a horror/thriller and I’ve seen “white room” movies done alot worse…

But I didn’t know ***** ** ***** was out here…You sure its not the run ons from it? Cause there was a total of 4 ***** ** *****, The last 3 were all fake scenes are I beleive are avalible. I’m pretty sure the first one is still banned without a censorship exemption for higher level academic study purposes and such like (which is how I saw it).

I’m not one for censorship (in fact I’m dead set against it as anyone who has crossed that subject with me knows) but certain things have a place and this is one movie I beleive should be on the restricted access lists which is a big call coming from me.

Behold the ‘plot’ of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, the pro wrtestler, upcoming movie.

Seesh… :unamused: thanks for the warning, I will stick to Rambo thank you very much.

It is something i have been looking at for a while, Movie violence is a hobby horse of mine, (that sounds really dodgy  ) But what i mean is the debate over it, Movies reflect society, and vice versa, so my concerns are more about society than the movie industry.

that being said I am more scared about the new motion capture technology actually making Actors as we know them redundant. :open_mouth:

so when i finally get my big break they will hand me a body suit with ping pong balls glued onto it and then digitaly put Bogarts face on top of mine.

Don’t worry, you will still have a job. The motion capture will be a novelty for some years then will settle down, just like most innovations in cinema.

The Japanese thought Bunraku Puppetry would destroy Noh plays. Didn’t happen.

People thought that talkies would destroy Broadway. It’s still there. People didn’t go to see Broke Back Mountain because of the motion capture.

Look what happened in James Bond when they used GCI effects instead of stunt work. They got slammed.

So while you may occasionally have to wear the ping pong balls, it won’t be all the time.
