Invite to LARP at a 1940's ball!

Hi everyone,

A few of my friends at AUSA (Auckland University Students Association) have heard tales of LARPing and contacted me asking if some people would be interested in attending their Clubs Ball next Friday. The theme is the Blitz, i.e we’re partying as hard as we can because you never know when the next bomb may drop! You can find the link here

Basically what they want from us is to come in costume (1940s glam/military to fit the theme) and to “interact with guests and do live action role play on the fly, basically just come and be in the 1940’s character, mixed in with some random performances, but nothing on stage or anything.”

They want around 4-6 people so if your keen give me a shout!

P.S I know this should have been gone through the America Club but I was on the exec last year so they know me personally so thats why they asked if I could get some volunteers

Right, first, I’m not mad. Even though I was the one who put this idea in the heads of the AUSA Ball organisers at the last Club President’s meeting. Anyway.

There’s a significant overlap of people who are both members of NZLarps and AMERICA, I’d like to encourage those who can and would like to do this to jump in. LARP is something both clubs readily support, and we like sharing our members .

Some questions:
NBoyce (I do know you, right?), are you keen to be one of the volunteers? I’d be happy to be a part of / lead a group such as this, the issue I had was with Ticket cost. Will we be going for free in this case? Who are those among us who readily have 1940s era gear? Would NZLarps be ok with it if those who went used it as an opportunity to hand out cards for Teonn, and cards for AMERICA? Is it really a good medium to be advertising, or shall we just make a posse to go there and have/give some fun?

Definitely keen to volunteer my services! I’m working on a dress as we speak

She got back to me on ticket cost and said this - “we will be putting their names on the door list as event staff, they will be welcome to eat and drink if they wish.” so that seems like a pretty sweet deal

I’m not sure how great an advertising medium it is as if we’re in character it would seem a bit OOC to give out cards. Maybe just have like a pile of them to the side?

Basically I think it would just be a whole lot of fun to get a group together and party! Theres going to be a jazz band so we can get our swing dancing shoes on and the venue seems pretty awesome as well!

Hope people are keen!

Is anyone keen? I have to let the peeps know ASAP as its this Friday.

Free food and drink and a chance to jitterbug, I hope more people can make it!

Also I should say, because we’re being classified as staff, you don’t have to go to Auckland Uni to attend!
