Since about 2001, in perhaps the most successful call-to-action meme ever, people have been answering Jedi as their religion on their census forms in the hope that it would ensure Jedi is created as an official response in subsequent censuses. It typically gets more responses that some minor religions.
But it never made onto a census because it’s not a real religion.
The whole Jedi meme is an act of inspired Kiwi ingenuity by a mate of mine (who is also a larper ! One the original Skirmishers, even) and he now wants to create an actual Jedi religion so we can take this meme to it’s logical conclusion (actually getting on the census).
Initially it will start out as an incorporate society, become a charity and then eventually become a religion. We’re having a launch on the afternoon of Sunday April 6th, and we need signatures (no signup fee). If you want to take the Jedi Census meme to the next level, PM me for details.
