Hunter.org

Hi

After much organising and planning we are finally ready to start a beginning Hunter game.

Instead of playing an angst ridden Vampire, an all powerful Mage or a Wolf with anger management problems, players will be … human.
That’s it. No super powers, no special abilities, just humans with the will and drive to stand up against something bigger than themselves.

The game will be run monthly on the third Saturday of every month beginning March 15 up until September when we may switch to the fourth Saturday, dependent on the upcoming Changeling game. (We all want to play nicely in the role playing sand pit!)

It is going to be an experimental format for the game, which will be run in two parts (2:30-5:30pm 7-10:00pm) with a break for dinner in the middle. A social/investigative element at the beginning, combative sections after dinner and (if needed/desired) closing or cut scenes in the evening.

There are three different factions within the game for characters to be involved in: A survivalist/street based element, The Corporate theme, and a religious oriented ideal. Each group will have it’s own advantages and negatives. FIVE player/characters per group.

We will be limiting player slots (15 in total for the first season) but will need NPC’s as well. The game is likely to have casualties (humans Vs the Things that go bump in the night remember) and NPC’s will have first dibs on Player slots that open up (unless they want to stay NPC’s and have a long term NPC). NPC players will be awarded some xp they may put towards a future character.

We will be using the NWoD mechanics and the first season will run for 10 games. We have three seasons worth of plot but as stated previously this is going to have an experimental format and we will pause after the season and may shuffle things around from there according to feedback from players and crew.

Your Hosts for the game will be Porl, Robbo and Jack and we look forwards to hearing from interested people soon.

For more information, or details, email aucklandhunterchronicle@gmail.com and we will reply as soon as we can.

TLDR

Hunter game starting soon. Email aucklandhunterchronicle@gmail.com for more info.

Also Robbo will be coming up from Hamilton for the game so players from the 'Tron can catch a ride (Bribing the ST with gas money or food is perfectly acceptable  )

So keen

Yay! I was waiting to see this happen

Glad people are interested

Why should I be a Church Hunter?

We are on a mission from God. Sure its a corny line in the movies but the fact is He loves us and doesn’t want us to be preyed on by the things that lurk in the darkness. His gives us grace and strength of purpose. While the others sink into moral depravity eventually becoming worse than the things they hunt, we continue to do His work armed with the knowledge that has kept us the most efficient and longest lasting hunters on Gods good earth.

Why should I be an Independent Hunter?

Freedom that is why. Those others, they sign away their souls the day they join up. And for what? Forms, Hail Marys and their higher ups breathing down their necks. And what do they get in return; old legends and shiny chains. The others like to think they know what it is like out there but at the end of the day they get to go home where it is safer. We live this shit. They have a myth about how 500 years ago a saint banished something that might be what we are dealing with. Bah! Just last week I talked to a mate from down south who properly put down one of those. What do you think works better?

Why should I be a Corporate Hunter?

Free will sounds great and all, and so does that whole righteous schtick, but those don’t pay the mortgage. Having god on your side sounds cool, but I would rather put my faith in Kevlar and the bag of goodies that the lab rats give me.
The real kicker though? Health insurance. I get hit I am going to a Doc not some back alley quack or a Vet with delusions of grandeur. That my friend is the difference between a wannabe and a Professional.

Hadn’t actually thought of them in those terms, but I like it

So message from friendly ST Team.

Game is due to start on the 15th March. Only a couple of weeks to go.

We still have some room left for players … we also need players who have expressed their interest to get hold of us on:
aucklandhunterchronicle@gmail.com

Questions happily answered

Things to remember as you ponder:

  • 3 Factions for players: Church, Corporate & Independent (we seem to be getting more interest in Church and Independent for some reason btw)

  • It is going to be an experimental format for the game. A social/investigative element at the beginning, combative sections after dinner and (if needed/desired) closing or cut scenes in the evening.
(Meaning there’s room for your play style without being annoyed by everyone else’s :stuck_out_tongue: You want to just play the social guy? Np, got it covered. Come to the first half of the game, go do something different afterwards … or hang around and NPC for us! Just want to get in a snot thing? Can do! Just be sure to liaise with your team before jumping in … they did you get the info you need to go akillin right?)

We kinda need you to decide soon. Today would be nifty :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking forward to catching up with you all in something a little different

~ Robbo

I assume you’re running on a Saturday, correct? The 16th, not the 15th? Because I need to know if your ST Jack is actually in my game on the Friday or not.

and this is why I should have double checked the dates myself lol.

Yes, Rob, it’ll be on the 16th. Ty for catching us

With the first game just around the corner we are going to be running an afternoon for anyone who is interested in playing or crewing in the upcoming Hunter: The Vigil game to come along and talk over character ideas and stat something up.

This is going to be a low tier game focusing on the individual characters’ struggles against the darkness both without and within. Hunters can be compared to small candles in the deep of the night, they hold back the darkness for a time, but eventually they may be snuffed out or they may kindle a larger blaze which will burn long and bright. This will not be an easy game, the monsters that lurk in the darkness and prey on humanity are stronger, faster and more powerful that mortals. But someone has to take up the Vigil to protect humanity.

There are three groups available for characters to join, each with different themes, advantages and disadvantages.

The Hunters of the Church seek to protect their flock from from evil in the name of The Lord as they have done since time immemorial. They have the advantage of the backing of the Catholic Church including the knowledge that has been passed down from ages passed. But are constrained by being answerable to rigid authorities both of man and higher.

The Corporate hunting teams seek to capture and study the monsters (dead or alive) in order to advance the knowledge and prosperity of humanity (starting with their shareholders). They have the advantage of better funding and better equipment, dependent of course on meeting their quarterly KPIs…

The Independent hunters take up the Vigil for their own reasons, answering to no masters for better or worse they stand on their own abilities.

This will be held at my place Saturday 9th March, PM for address details.
Looking forwards to hearing from you
ST Team.

Due to unfortunate circumstances the st team has decided that in order to bring you the best game we can the first game will have to be pushed back to next month. Thank you for your patience and we will keep you posted.
