Howick Colonial Village - Early Settler's Picnic

Howick Colonial Village - Early Settler’s Picnic day Sun, 21 Jan, 2007
History comes alive on the third Sunday of every month (excluding December) when up to 30 costumed villagers go about their daily tasks.

The visiting 65th Regiment has an encampment and performs military duties including cannon firing (on occasions) and musket drill. A blacksmith’s shop, general store and post office complete the picture of Auckland at an early stage of its development.

Again, another place that we could hand out NZLARPS Cards and go in costume.

Comments?

er? what type of costume?
19th century?

The reason i ask is that it would be very cool if the entire cast of Mordavia turned up in costume and outnumbered the villagers 3 to 1

I reckon it would be nice for the society to collect a bit of 1850’s NZ costume. That’s an exciting pioneering period in our history (or exciting alien invasion, depending on perspective), and an interesting clash of cultures too.
