Hood + Cloak.. HELP!

Hey peeps,

I’m following this pattern >> alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Thi … attern.htm

I’ve gotten to the point where I have to stitch the hood to the cloak, but i can’t seem to follow the instructions.
It talks about sewing the two hoods together (i have a lining and an outer), i I can follow it ok, but I think either the hood wil be inside out, or I end up only using 1 of the hoods, but i think its missed instructions about either turning it the right way around, or stitching the two “kites” together to form the actual hood.

Could someone have a read over and let me know if following the instructions will give me what I need?

try putting the lining on the outside with the raw seams out, and the hood on the inside with the raw seams out. Sew the necklines together leaving about a 2-4 inch hole. turn the hood the right way out by pushing the fabric through the hole, effectively flipping it. Then fold the edges of the hole inside and stitch along this new edge. This means that the fabric won’t fray as easily and the seams won’t rub on your neck. Then simply attatch it to the cloak.

Hope this helps

Yeah, this is the bit you want:

"Sew the long sides of the kite pairs together and refold the hood as shown in the main instructions. Starting from the seam which will attach to the neck hole, measure one half the neck-hole measurement in each direction.

Machine stitch the lining to the outer hood from one of these points to the other seam and around to the second point you just marked.

Leave the rest of the lining free. Turn the lining to the inside."

I find this a bit hard to follow myself though!

Thanks guys, the quoted bit above is from the part that says “making the hood bigger” which, although I don’t need to make it bigger, I read, and figured that part should be part of the main body.

I’ll have a shot at this and see how it goes. Thanks again.

It’s mostly done!! Ooooo… Will have to get a photo of it, thanks again guys for the help with the hood. Its a bit messy, but I figured it kinda suits.
Now just for the rest of the outfit.
