Hi

Hello, I am new here so I thought I would say hi.

I am moving to Auckland later this year, roughly October depending on work ect, and I am looking to get involved with a larp group when I am there, so I thought I would check out the forums to see what the roleplaying community was like.

It’s pumpin’.

Are you in Auckland yet?

Hi, I’m in Auckland. Where is the LARPing?.

What sorta larp you looking for? boffer weapon larp? M.E.T (thats the vampire ones)? free form?

We’re pretty new, Options, still in the stages of finding and cataloging all the LARPing activity around the country. Let us know what you’re into and the active community can hopefully point you in the right direction

Hey mate. Here are a few things running in Auckland at the moment:

…and probably some others I’m not aware of or have forgotten.

All of these except AMERICA have forums on Diatribe where you can ask the organisers questions. Each group announces it’s own events. No events coming up that I know of, but it’s just a matter of time.

Current AMERICA live games in Auckland are a monthly Masquerade game and a monthly In Nomine live game. And a lot of the AMERICA crowd play in the monthly OWbN game as well.

AMERICA (the uni roleplay club) indeed runs and has a policy of helping support LARP in auckland.

As well as the ones mentioned (Rowena’s vampire game and Alex’s In Nomine game) we run a few one off games though out the year. At each of the 2 big weekend events we run (America’s cup and Battlecry) there is a larp on one of the evenings. As well as that there are from time to time run little one off games.

Next year looks to be a bumper year for “one off” LARPS with at least 2 or 3 on the planning boards that I know of in addition to the 2 at the events.

And just a Note although members of AMERICA are given first dibs and tend to make up the majority of people at these events, AMERICA’s larps are not exclusively for AMERICA members.

And America is not just for Uni students, even though we are based at Uni. Last year our membership was about 2/3 students, 1/3 wasn’t.

It costs $10 for the years membership, and for that you get at least 2 magazines, regular Tuesday night meetings where board games, card games and roleplaying happen. Plus you get a membership discount to our 2 big events, BattleCry and America’s Cup.

I will have membership forms for 2006 at BattleCry, if anyone wants to join up.
