Hey listen to some of my demo material

I recently set myself up with Reason and a MIDI keyboard and have been working on material for an industrial demo/EP under the working name of Raniah. None of the tracks have vocals laid down yet, I’m going to start tackling that challenge in a couple of weeks.

Here’s some of the last couple weeks’ progress up for download, keen for feedback and pointers:

"Drop"
This one I think most suffers from not having the vocals on yet. It is a fairly aggressive track, the chorus and prechorus will consist of a fairly simple chant verse meant for the audience to sing along with. It is the most finished as far as structure and instrumentation go, so any further suggestions for this one are especially helpful.

"Break the Sky"
This one is an instrumental and a little experimental, currently undergoing some tweaking. The structure and instrumentation are, for the most part, done, but I feel like there’s something messy about it and I’m having trouble putting my finger on how to fix it. Give it until after the first postchorus to kick in, it starts off a bit subdued.

"Lurk"
This one’s a baby, I laid down the structure for it wednesday night and now I’m looking at additional instrumentation. Upon listening it cuts off prematurely at the end, sorry about that-- I must’ve exported it wrong, but it gets the point across. It’s for a dark club or for zoning out to.

Nice!

That Puscifer influance is showing through in you…

Drop: Could the melody be a little more promonant? Everything mixes together nicely but I feel maybe something could be allowed to shine out?

Break the Sky: I feel the piano should be something else… It sounds a little bit too pretty, maybe different reverb could make it fit better?

Lurk: I like the chord progression! It all builds up nicely. When the drop happens the drums really shine through here, which is nice. The song feels quite similar to Drop, but nicer, kinda like Drop but on a sunny day.

Well done though! I’ve never managed to get Reason do anything except be annoying and repeditive. You don’t fancy sharing your reason files so I can have a look and a little bit of a play do you?..
