Tesla’s Wedding
Costume= Steampunky.
round four, The Rose and the Dragon
Round 5: Steampunk Alive! The Last Express
Costume= Victorian/Steampunk
Round 6:Victoria Junction
Costume=Victorian
i noticed a theme in my games costumes for this year’s chimera

can i get some advice in advance as to how to do steampunk/victorian on the cheap/diy

the most obvious is to use the same costume for all three games, depending on the character of course.

but as for general female steampunk/victorian costume??

im good with acessories of the victorian era, stumped with steampunk.
and for ful dresses/outfits?? how do they do that??

Your basic Victorian-ish option is to go for the shirtwaist look. Get a long A-line skirt in a block colour (you can make one for not much cash out of cheap poplin fabric), and a white blouse with big boofy sleeves (might get from an op shop?). This is a style that was popular in the late 19th century, early 20th. You can steampunk it up with accessories. For extra style, put some lacy frills on the blouse, and maybe make a vest or waist cincher to go with it. You could also make a cheapish bustle by making a wad of fabric that can tie around your waist to puff out the skirt at the back - for this style, get a skirt that’s longer at the back so it trails a bit on the floor.

I couldn’t find any full length pictures quickly, but if you watch the movies you’ll see what I mean about the skirts - much easier to produce than a crinoline style.

thank you!!!

two fo them ended up being more ‘character’ based costume and so not really needing to be big boofy victorian stuff, but of them is so i shall get onto it.
