Help Wanted - Medieval Banquet in Hamilton

From the folks who brought you the Taupo Joust, comes a Medievla Banquet!

Nic Harrison, one of the organisers of the Taupo Joust, is putting on a banquet in Hamilton and needs some help, and has asked us.

The event is on May 24th.

Caterig for a banquet for 200 people, catering (as in food and cutlery) is provided. We will be looking at dressing the area, serving and entertining the guests, all that sort of goodness. It’s a pretty big industrial space to dress, but ther will be a lot of resources available, including a couple of theatre quality backdrops to extend the percieved space. These look quite cool. There are, however a bunch of high rafters and areial spaces that will need people on ladders to drape cloth and hang stuff from. Have photos of these. We’ll need to deck the floor out in straw or something and make a fairly modern workshop/barn into a medieval space for a three hour gig. I recokn it will take four to six people a full day to do. We’d also be keen on engaging some folk to carry big platters from caterers to tables and that sort of thing. All those folk would need to be dressed up.

We need about six-seven folk to head down to Hamilton, decorate the space with the materials provided and help serve food platters while in costume. The event would wrap about 11pm, dinner is provided, and in exchange for our help, he will donate money to nzLARPS.

I have told Nic that I will have a definite yes or no answer for him by Sunday.

For the answer to be YES, we need enough volunteers to cover the job.

So far we have myself, Muppet and Edward for the day, plus we have Jared from 5pm onward.

I would like TWO MORE people, preferably one with a car so we can arrange carpooling down - you will be reimbursed for petrol costs.

Wouldn’t it make sense to grab a bunch of Hamilton larpers to do this and then give them a project with a chunk of cash to buy materials etc for some new gear?

We haven’t been able to raise the minimum number of volunteers needed for this project, which is a shame. Thank you to everyone that put their hand up for it.
