Hamlet and Snow White - May

I have Turnball House booked on Friday 13th May and Saturday 14th May. 7pm - 11.30pm
I currently have one room booked each night with the potential for 2 rooms side by side.
The plan is (depending on interest), to run up to 2 games each night (Hamlet and Snow White), side by side. If the interest isn’t there I will just run one game each night.

Title: Snow White

Blurb: Of all traditional fairy tales that were adapted and censored for children in modern renditions, Snow White has perhaps undergone the most change. Today’s bedtime story of an innocent princess, seven happy little men and true love forgets the original undertones of desperation, passion, poverty and sexuality. One cannot tell the true story of Snow White without going back to a time in which men were valued only for their size and stamina, and woman only for their beauty and ability to bear children; a time in which glass was so rare that a polished mirror was truly a frightening thing of magic.

Most of the original characters and a few new ones are present in this adaptation of the older, darker, and more vivid story of Snow White. It is set in the hours before the execution of the Queen and subsequent wedding of the Prince and Princess, a time of last chances and new beginnings.

Cast List: 5 males, 3 Females + Room for Crew/NPCs

The Queen (Female) Queen
Snow White (Female) Snow White
Gittel (Female) Snow Whites old Nurse Maid
The Prince (Male) The Prince
Kione the Dwarf (Male) A sub human
Naresh (Male) The Advisor to the Royal Court
Servos (Male) Head of the Guards
rmin (Male) The Prince’s right hand man

Costuming Requirements: Early Medieval costumes, some weapons. Good costuming would be appreciated as it adds to the flavour for all players.

Title: Hamlet

Blurb: This adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet is set the day after Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius. Hamlet is about to be sent away to England in a few hours, and will not have another chance to kill Claudius perhaps for years. The majority of the court, Ophelia included, has been told that Polonius accidentally fell down the stairs.
At the Queen’s insistence, a small gathering is held to send Hamlet off. In the middle of it all, Laertes returns unexpectedly, demanding to see his father.
Very basic familiarity with the plot and characters is required for players. Director should have read the play.

Cast List: 6 males, 2 Females

Hamlet (Male)
Cladius (Male)
Gertrude (Female)
Orphelia (Female)
Laertes (Male)
Rosencrantz (Male)
Horatio (Male)
Marcellus (Male)

Costuming Requirements: Renaissance or Medieval costumes, some weapons. Good costuming would be appreciated as it adds to the flavour for all players.

ME!

OK, now i’ve submitted my entusiasm, i can adjust my post after reading the OP!

I’m very keen on the Snow White LARP, and happy to join in with the Hamlet one, although i’m not very knowledgable in the setting or play.

I would LOVE to do snow white, and possibly hamlet… but definitely snow white

Put me down for Hamlet please. Now to watch the film, I’d say read the book, but who am I kidding eh?

I’d be pretty interested in playing in the Hamlet game… if it was rerun at a later date when I’m not in London (all of May except the end of the week which Teonn is on)

Maybe time to dust off my copy of Hamlet and relearn a couple of speeches?

Though the memory of our dear brother’s death be green, and that it us befitted To bear our hearts in grief, and our whole kingdom To be contracted in one brow of woe… but I’m selfish so I’ll marry the Queen, and I’m glad you all said I could, and Fortinbras is a stupid dork. Good boy Laertes. Hamlet, why are you so glum all the time?

And a limerick by Stanley J. Sharpless (Warning: Plot spoilers!)
Prince Hamlet thought Uncle a traitor

Revenge Dad or not?
That’s the gist of the plot,
And he does - nine soliloquies later.

Me please for Snow White and Hamlet!
(Oh please!)

This.

I’m interested in both.

keen!!!

Cat and I are both keen for either.

Me for hamlet especially.

I’m still interested, but I can now only make Friday the 13th, not the Saturday as well.

I still think Hannah and I are in for Hamlet

I’m also interested Scott.

Hi Guys

I am breaking down what nights the games will run and the cast for eash game. Can I get an indication from the females who would be happy to take on male roles. (I have a few people down already for this, especially for Hamlet).

Cheers
Scott

I’m OK with a male role (but the Friday only).

I’d prefer not to play a male role and I’m not as interested in hamlet as I am in Snow White.

Hi Scott,

I loved Snow White. Thanks for that! I’d LOVE to play in Hamlet as well as I’m an uber lover of all things Shakespeare and acted in Hamlet as Hamlet a few years back (as in the play, not the LARP). Unfortunately I’ll be out of Wellington the weekend you’re running it. I’d love to put my name down for the next round though if you’re ever re-staging. I might even convince my boy to wait for me. But then again…

Yay I finally got around to registering myself.

Im going to give these larps a miss. Im really keen to play in Hamlet, but also want to spend some weekends with Luke (and the girls) and May is beginning to fill up. So something had to give.

However if you do re run Hamlet later in the year, colour me keen.

Sam

sorry deleting this as that thing that I thought would prevent this has been cancelled so I can do this again! SORRY!

Sorry to everyone about the delay in getting the casting out. I had it on my laptop that died before I went to Australia and have only just been able to get back and recover data from the hard drive.
