Anyone know where a guy can buy some basic costuming gear from here in Hamilton?
Depends what you’re after dude. Jared an I either made our gear ourselves or got it from Trademe.
There are some basic patterns in this Gear forum, you just have to dig for them. A T-tunic isn’t too hard to make…
And if you want the ragged look, even easier…
And Ryan Paddy sells swords etc and www.wargod.co.nz also has some good gear, if it is a little pricey (it all is, trust me).
I also make gear as well, having recently mastered the art of making latex weapons.
Yeah, Paddywhack is me, and Wargod is someone else, but I don’t sell costumes so they would be a better option.
Chantelle used to make costumes to order, she’s based in Auckland. Some of her work can be seen here, with (probably outdated) prices:
Sorry I had meant to say Ryan Paddy does weapons, and seperately wargod (Hayden Blackburn) does weapons and costume. He is based out of Te Awamutu, hence the relevance to H-town (being 20 minutes away).
Does look a little expensive in the money department. Found the patterns here on the forums. The only major draw back on that is the fact that I don’t own a sewing machine nor do I know anyone that does.
Let me talk to my wife for you Joseph. She might do the actual sewing providing it isn’t complex. What would you want made?
Mainly just a basic T Tunic, and maybe some pants and a vest. Not sure what else costume wise I’d need with the character I sent you. But if you think of anything else he may need let me know.

Bah grammar, who would think that could ever be important.
Pants are easy - find a cheap and comfy nondescript pair of trackpants or similar from the warehouse or cotton on. The lighter the materials are probably better, and cotton breathes.
