Gordian Knot Set Design Team

I am looking at getting together an official “Set Design Team” for this year’s flagship game at Chimera. So this is a call for anyone interested and committed to helping with this.

Please note -
This does not compromise the secrets of the characters at the game. You will still be able to play in the game.
This will not affect any other games at Chimera. We already have a group of people available to help with the setting up of the hall on the Saturday afternoon, although if you have nothing better to do, more help will not be turned away.
You do not have to be attending Chimera at all, this is a call for work between now and 27th August.

I am looking for people with skills and abilities to help make set dressing stuff - such as wall hangings, banners, funky spacship interior furniture etc

Official references can be provided to you to put on your CV if required.

We are having a meeting to discuss the broad ideas and to firm up the final set design at my place in Westmere this Sunday, 17th July, 10.30 am.
If you are interested in coming, please PM me for my address.

If you are interested in helping with making/sourcing somethings in specific areas, feel free to post below if you don’t want to come to the meeting, and the Set Design Team Leader will be in contact.

I don’t know what budget you’ve got but Reunion got good mileage out of 4 large aluminium trusses that were covered with white tubes of cloth, and lit from inside with UV lights… Pretty easy to set up. You just have to be able to run power to the lights. We hired these (and other vari lights) from a lighting hireage place. There will be such places in Auckland. The main issue is transport since 2.4 meter trusses are not trivial to cart around.

And here are the photos is you want to see how that worked out: picasaweb.google.com/norman.cat … eunionLARP

It was pretty impressive in person. Lots of UV lighting.

I’m KEEN-AS to help out with set design. I can confer with my mate Jimi Hills of KaeaMedia, who does the set for Hyundai CODE on Maori Television (it’s not just for you, it’s for everyone), for ideas. I am also able to be there to put it all together. 8)
