I don’t think we’ll have any problem getting the shed into the back yard. They come in pieces and are reasonably lightweight.

The idea of a larger shed does appeal.[/quote]

Keep in mind the reason we’re going for the size we are is that anything over 10 sqm will require building consents. Even the size we’re currently looking at comes out to 10.125 sqm.

so why dot you simply build two. this will allow you to build them at half the size each, and sill have the same amount of space, and no pesky consent.

Actually I suggested that a couple of pages back…

I even suggested another trailer instead.

How about a shed AND another trailer?

If it’s removable, building consent becomes much less of an issue. In practice, it’s not an issue unless someone complains. “Hey you, remove that shed”. “Sure”. Just saying.

The main issue with building consent is when you sell your house, the buyer’s want to know if you got it. If the shed is gone, there’s nothing to ask about.

I think it may be a good idea for someone who knows more about the actual setting up of the shed to come have look at my backyard, because I roughly estimate the whole area to be about 10meters by 4meters, this is with pasing it out.

The 10.125 sq metres is calculated from the indicative dimensions. If council ask (and why would they, nobody is going to tell them anything ?), then you just say that when it was put up it was slightly smaller (e.g. 2 cm shorter on all sides) and is now under 10 sq metres.

Also, it is only 1.9m tall, which is 10cm under the height restriction.

Where I work there happens to be an expert in building consents from the surveying company downstairs and I asked him about it and he said not to worry, it’s not like the council send people around to measure things.

And if it all goes pearshaped, you can always remove it as Ryan says. But you won’t need to.

Actually what I was suggesting is that we go even larger than about 10sqm. Nikki seemed to be indicating there was more space, and we need more.
