Gear Rationalisation & Workshop

We’ve had a lot of games since the last rationalisation, and now it’s time for another one. My shed is loaded to the gunwhales with gear, and every game seems to bring more ! We need to:

  • Pull out all the boxes and sort them.
  • Print labels describing the contents of each box - I’ve worked out how to keep them stuck onto the side of the box
  • Fix weapons and costumes
  • Was dirty armour and costumes
  • Build some props (GMs, post in this thread with ideas of what you want to make)

But, I can’t do this on my own. I need help from the community. Please come along and help.

In particular, I would like GMs from every nzLARPS project/game to attend. The gear library is a resource for GMs, and any GMs that don’t help are freeloading. If you are a and GM can’t make it, please send a representative.

When: Saturday, January 12th 2008

Time: 10am until 4pm(ish)

Where: 26 Malvern Road, Morningside (easy access bus from New North Road or train from Morningside Station)

Bring: Some lunch money for a dietarily appropriate lunch (probably pizza)

The more people who help, the more we can get done.

Cya there,

Mike

No chance you can throw it a week forward? I might be larping in the snow around the 12th, coming home on the 18th…

I finish work at 6am on the 12th, so as long as you dont mind me not being very energetic and acting like a zombie then I’ll be there.
If it was moved to the 18th I’d be in another country and unable to attend.

Sorry, can’t change the date.

Work is more important that larp, so only come if you’re feeling up to it.

Me too.

Its the end of my shift run so not sleeping until later in the day is manageable. I’ll be there, just might not be there right till the end.

Tigger and I will be there.

I’ve pencilled it in.

Will be there, so long as I’m not out of town.

Bah, I’m back of beyond that weekend. sowwy.

See you guys there - should be around for the middle part.

I hope everyone is coming! I’ll be there, and so will Tigger.

Great ! Thanks for confirming.

I’ve bought some clear plastic envelopes with adhesive backing so we can stick these to the boxes, with inserts to indicate what’s in each box.

This should cut down search times, as long GMs remember to put things back in the correct box after each game.

I’m in the midst of moving houses and finishing renovations on our current one before moving, so unfortunately I can’t come after all.

Wish I could, because I’m hoping to make it to the next St Wolfgang’s and that game uses the NZLARPS gear a lot.

I hope to see a lot of people there.
The gear library is a resource that everyone who larps benefits from so please donate some of your time to help maintaining it.

We had a great turnout today, with over a dozen larpers doing their bit to improve the state of our gear. Our library is now in much better shape, in particular:

  • Lots of costumes were washed
  • The weapons had a thorough sort through with some culling and some repaired
  • We now have a database of boxes, which includes descriptions of the contents and pictures (and we can print out a list of all boxes and their contents)
  • We made and painted some foam bricks
  • A set of leather armour was cut out, ready for riveting

Many thanks to everyone who assisted in rationalising our gear.

Cheers ! 8)
