You may well have already heard about it, but just in case you haven’t, I thought you might be interested in this news article.
(If you’re wondering why this might be of interest to Lovecraft fans, have a read of this)

Oh good, I’m glad I’m not the only one whose thoughts went straight there.
We’re doomed
It’s eerie how very on-the-money a lot of Lovecraft’s speculations were - not about the tentacle monsters, but a lot of the science he was speculated about has been turning up in recent scientific discoveries.
So how long till things start getting weird down Dunedin way?
Yep, I’m definitely worried now. Especially after I saw a corpse get reanimated on Friday night o.O
The penguins alone could not have saved us…
What’s the tl;dr version?
Lovecraft wrote about mountains in Antarctica?

It was advertised as a thread for Lovecraft fans
Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness is a fantastic novella that theorises about the potential of Antarctica being the home to a civilisation hundreds and hundreds of millions of years ago in a mountain range not yet discovered. The article that James found talks about how a range of mountains found twenty years after Lovecraft died are much younger than the continent itself and how that’s possible, and the sort of climate that might’ve been likely there once. There are a number of eerie parallels between the things suggested in Lovecraft’s story (which was, admittedly, based on the most advanced science of the time) and the recent discoveries.
This paticular part sent chills down my spine:
Finding evidence of past life in the barren continent is one of the primary focuses of the story, as well as one of the sources of horror - I’m really interested to see what the scientists find out.
(Hey, it didn’t say non-fans couldn’t ask questions! ;D)
Thanks Anna!
And in that vein, I give you:

Scientists discovers remains of ancient creature in Antartica!
…
Now that I’ve finished being misleading, its actually about a dinosaur (a titanosaur to be more precise)
