Foamn offcuts

I know someone who is producing vast quantities of 14mm foam off-cuts this week. If anybody wants them. Please let me know. It’s Dunlop SU29-330 polyester foam.

I had a look at the spec, and it appears to mattress foam (although at 14mm, it would be quite thin). I am right ?

Also, do you know what size range will the offcuts come in ? I might be up for a van or stationwagon load.

I imagine the larp society will be VERY interested in this, if the foam can serve any purpose for them.

Any idea of how dense it is, compared to say camping mat? The foam I’ve bought in the past from Dunlop Foams has the code “PE30” (the one for sword blades) which is slightly denser than camping mat, or “PE45” (for hilts) which is a lot denser.

I think that 30 or 45 in the codes I quoted above is the density in kg/m3. The spec for your mate’s foam says “15 to 100 kg/m3”, which seems to indicate a wide range. Could be anything, really.

Also, any idea of colour? Black and grey are way more useful than colours. The spec says “white to off-white natural colour or specified colour” which is a little vague. The colour will also tell me what density it might be. Whiter shades usually indicate less dense foam, darker is more dense.

I haven’t actually seen it, but I believe it’s light greyish in colour. I believe it’s alos an open cell sponge rather a closed cell foam.

I’ve got a lot of ideas around using open cell foam for masks (especially for Marc’s Warhammer larp concept). If it was a denser than normal upholstry foam that would be fine, too.

Grey open cell foam would be PERFECT for those kinds of thing because it’s already a good base colour. The usual yellow soft foam is a bit crap because when it inevitably tears or the surface colour wears off, the yellow shows up and ruins the look.

Either way, if it’s grey then it’ll definitely find a use. I imagine we’d mostly be interested in larger scraps though.

Speaking of foam reminded me.
In ikes in Browns Bay they have a trolley full of sponges at 10515 cm for 40c each or 3 for a $1 htese will be no good for weapons but might be reall good for costumes as they are really light.

Can we still get a load of this foam ?

If so, what are the logistics involved ?

It’s likely it will turn up at my place next Monday enening. I’ll pick through it and take the best bits  and you’re welcome to the rest.

I’ll post here again when it turns up!

Cool, thanks.

I have these but there is stuff all of them. Basically, it’s grey foam about 18mm thick and there are about 6-10 pieces all smaller than an A4 sheet of paper. I had expected more…

If there’s any you aren’t using, I’ll be happy to add these to our collection of raw materials.

However, I get them off you until May since I’m currently in Kathmandu.

Sounds like good sizes for daggers, spearheads, and arrowheads.

They’re too spongy for daggers.

They’re like foam topper pads but a little stiffer.

However, I’ve decided to use if for paint brushes when I paint medium sized areas (like shields) because then I can bin the bits without washing them.
Are you talking about foam mattress or something else?! Umm. There is a good page for foam mattress perhaps!
Also, you can find some other content on it,such as taping tools or criminal defense attorney or lifeforce international.
You can search on the homepage try some other keywords,no ads even.these page updated every day.Because of the huge database,it perhaps not very fast,if you don’t like it,take it easy.
That’s got to be the weirdest spam ever. It’s keying off foam mattresses. And then it thinks that maybe what you really want is a criminal defence attorney.
