Facepaint order for Chimera

Does anyone need facepaint for Chimera (or any other upcoming game)? If there is enough interest, I can get an order sorted by Thursday next week, which is August 10th, and it will be here in time for the convention.
I’ll keep it simple again, with the same two brands I use constantly. If you’re ordering for one-off Chimera games I’d recommend the small size pots. Oh, and I’m adding in the metallics and neons. If there’s something you want that you can’t see here, please email me on kara@paintedfaces.co.nz . Even if you’re not sure quite what you want, tell me what it’s for and I can probably figure something out for you!

ie.
Kryolan, 2.5oz, Blood Red, $19
Wolfe, 30gm, Black, $13
Sponge x 2, $3

Please include your full name in the email, especially if it’s not the same as your email address! I’ll need to match them up to payments.

Kryolan paints – translucent, easy wearing, not greasy, doesn’t flake. Great stuff, but not opaque. My favourite paints for base colours and blending.

There are two size options.

Palette refill cakes (0.14 oz, 4gm) - $7 – these look really small, but they’re all you need if you’re doing your face and neck for Gordian Knot. They do about 20 faces.

2.5 oz or 70gm cakes - $19 – Decided to forsake making a costume and just wear paint, have we? Useful if you are building a kit for a campaign character.

Colours (ask if the colour you want is not here, there are more)
White
Black
Bear Brown
Blood Red
Red (lighter than blood red)
Orange
Bright yellow
Leaf green (light)
Forest green (dark)
Royal Blue (dark)
turquoise (light)
Grey (light)

There is also a 6 colour palette (palette refill size, as above) - $36 contains white, black, red, yellow, green, blue

Wolfe Brothers paints. These have gorgeous bright opaque colours and there is no blacker black for line work. They have beeswax in them though, which means that they can melt and run more if you get hot. My favourites for detail work.

Sizes:

30gm - $13 - can’t really imagine why you’d need more than this for Chimera, it IS August, after all. this is a good size pot. Wide enough for a sponge, shallow enough not to contain enough paint for an elephant.

45gm - $18 – Need your whole body painted?

Colours (ask if the colour you want is not here, there are more):
White
Black
Grey
Red
Orange
Yellow
Light Green
Green
Light Blue

6 colour palette (0.2oz each colour) - $26 – White, Black, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue

Wolfe Neons and Metallics

30gm - $18
45gm - $24

Neon Magenta
Neon Orange
Neon Yellow
Neon Green
Neon Pink
Neon Purple

Metallic Rose
Metallic Gold
Metallic Silver
Metallic Copper
Metallic Green
Metallic Blue
Metallic Purple
Metallic white

6 colour neon palette (0.2oz each colour) - $32 - Neon Magenta, Neon Orange, Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Neon Pink, Neon Purple

6 colour metallic palette (0.2oz each colour) - $32 - Metallic Rose, Metallic Gold, Metallic Green, Metallic Blue, Metallic Purple, Metallic white

Tools:
Sponges - $1.50 each. Circular sponge. Cut them in half for a flat edge, or use whole to cover large surfaces quickly. Mostly I cut mine up.

Brushes - #5 Round - $7.50 – Great brush for linework like eyebrows, flame edges, water drops, writing, outlining.
#3 Round - $6.00 - Fine brush for extra small details like eyelashes, tiny flowers, dots, scrollwork.

By the way, these prices include postage into NZ. I’ll bring the paints with me to Chimera. If they arrive early and you want to pick them up from me that can be arranged. If they are for a future game and you want me to post them to you, I will need to ask for the postage at that point.

Cheers,
Kara

Hiya Kara,

Could you help some of us out who’ve never ordered or used this stuff before? More as in guidance towards what to look for in ordering, than in actual application. Though feel free to that to :stuck_out_tongue:

No idea what I REALLY need, but fairly sure I need a gold or silver metallic paint, and one other for highlights or tones? (For The Gordian Knot) Would you care to help out a makeup noob? Pls? I buy you icecream! lol

PS: Next thursday is the 11th :stuck_out_tongue:

runs

LOL, you don’t need to run, you’re absolutely right. Orders need to be in by Thursday August 11th.

Sending PM to discuss makeup/costume

yay me!

Hi Kara,

I know this is a Chimera thread, so I’m sorry about asking about Teonn here. I’m new to the face/body painting thing too, so this is a great opportunity for me to learn, in preparation for Teonn in December.

I see that you list a 45gm pot of Wolfe Brothers opaque paint for $18. Is it safe to assume that such a single pot by itself would not suffice for an Air Elemental (full body painting) for the whole weekend of Teonn? Not only would I need a few different colours to add to the effect, but I assume 45gm would only last one day for a whole body paint job, is that right?

I’m just trying to work out a bit of a budget for Teonn. Thanks for for your help.

Normal Chimera transmissions can now resume. :stuck_out_tongue:

No worries. If people want to ask about or order for Teonn now so they can have a play with the makeup before the game, that’s fine.

The Kryolan 70gm pots will cover an average body model’s (so, not really an average size person!) full body twice, so it’s safe to assume one Wolfe 45gm will cover a full body once. But unless you are planning to show up in a g-string and body paint you won’t need your entire body to be painted.

Once you have an idea of your costume coverage you’ll know how much you need to paint. Face/neck/hands/forearms is pretty common and doesn’t use enormous amounts. A single 45gm pot would be enough, though if you want shading or detailing, or just multiple colours, then yes, you’ll need those extra colours.
Once you have an idea of your costume coverage you’ll know how much you need to paint.
Thanks for the reply. I’m still sorting out my costume (and, in fact, still waiting on the GMs approval for my initial character ideas) but I can assure you that the costume will be more than just a g-string and the body paint!

Actually, if it does end up being face/neck/forearms, then the 30gm pots would be enough. Just so you know.

Thanks. And that would be per day, right? And for maximum effect it would be best to get, what, about 2-3 extra pots of different colours? I assume that the highlight colours would last a single 30gm pot each for the duration of Teonn, but the base colour I would go through a whole 30gm pot per day. Does that sound about right to you?

If you bought a 45gm pot for your main color, it’d do you for at least 2 full weekends if you’re wearing a reasonable amount of costume.

Yes, I’d say the 30gm of highlight colors would last you for the forseeable future.

Awesome, thanks for the advice Kara. I’ll get back to you closer to Teonn to place an order. I’m also keen to come along to a clinic / workshop / whatever to learn how to apply the body paint myself, as I don’t want to become an additional burden to you and your team at the event.

Just letting you know that the deadline for ordering for chimera is tomorrow. Thank you to those of you that have already ordered and paid.
