A weekday evening would be best for me. Say a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night.
If it’s after November 12th, I’d be interested in playing.
It seems in some ways similiar to the Model United Nations events I did last year. The whole high powered political roleplaying aspect, anyway.
Is that date related to exams?
Yep. It’s last day of uni exams and I ended up with one on it.
But don’t worry about it too much, if an earlier date suits more people better, I’ll just pass.
I’d prefer to do it after exams if possible.
How does Wednesday 16th of November, starting around 6:00 pm suit people?
16th is doable for me, but there could be better. Like the 17th.
Okay, I’ve added a poll. Let me know when suits best.
This game will be on Wednesday 16 November, in a boardroom at my office.
I’ll be running the game as a project of the Live Action Roleplaying Society, assuming that’s okay with them.

EXECUTIVE DECISION
A white-knuckle game of real-time political crisis
Game design by Greg Stolze
Date: Wed, 16 November 2005
Time: 6pm
Location: Level 7, Synergy House, 131 Queen St. It’s opposite Vulcan Lane. I’ll meet everyone on the street outside and take you up.
Price: $5, or $3 for members of LARPS. Will be used for decoration, all props and any proceeds will go to LARPS.
Wear: Corporate attire.
Bring: Notepads, snacks, drinks.
Contact: Ryan Paddy. Contact by PM or at ryan@mordavia.com or on 918-6132 if you’re keen to play.
Have you ever found yourself thinking, “I could do better than those fat cats in Washington?” With this game, you have the chance to prove it.
Executive Decision is played in real time. Each game lasts exactly one or two hours, depending on which scenario you’re playing. When your time is up, the President must decide how the U.S. is reacting to a crisis.
To make his decision, of course, the Chief Executive needs input from his loyal staff (that is, the other players). They, in turn, have goals of their own – goals that place them in conflict with each other.
Can you figure out how best to fulfill your agenda? Can you persuade the President to follow your advice? If so, you can gain enough political clout to win the game.
I’m so there.
Cool. I forgot to say, email me on ryan@mordavia.com or PM me on this forum if you’re keen to play. Or call on 918-6132.
Im interested but i dont get back from my audition till the 18th… Totally awesome idea you have there.
Technically, you’re supposed to submit a project plan, but since you’re not asking for any resources such as props or funds (and our procedures are still being laid down) I don’t think it matters! I would think the meeting tonight will happily approve this project.
On a side note, though, (speaking as treasurer here) you’ll need to submit a final account (money in, money out) for the paperwork, we’ll need this for all future projects since we’re going for Incorporation.
Sounds a fun game, I’d like to be in but I don’t know if I’ll have the time. Maybe I’ll turn up on the day, if you dont get fully booked.
Steve
Sure thing, will keep careful track of the costs and income.
The cost for LARPS members will be $3, not $2 as I said before. Slightly underestimated my costs.
Craig, if you could update the calendar entry that’d be great.
Game is on next Wednesday folks. Get in touch if you’re keen.
Okay, Executive Decision is on next Wednesday and there are still spaces available. All are welcome.
I’m going to mail out copies of the rules to the players so you get a chance to read them over before the game, to avoid downtime before we start. Mordavia players, I probably have your addresses already. Other players, if you could PM them to me that’d be great.
Just post here if you’re interested in playing. Executive Decision is the ultimate low-requirement larp. The rules fit on one piece of paper, there are no game mechanics, you wear modern clothes, and we’re playing on a weeknight so it’s not using going out time.
I may have forgotten to mention this, but after each scenario everyone gets awarded points for how well they have achieved their agendas, and someone wins! And who said that there are no winners in roleplaying…
EDIT: if you like to pay by bank transfer and avoid forgetting-cash-on-day syndrome, my account is 12-3220-0222979-00 - let me know if you make a transfer.
I mailed out several copies of the rules on Friday, let me know if you got them and what you think. Bear in mind that this is someone else’s work, so don’t be shy about criticism if you’ve got some.
Personally I think it’s all going to come down to the scenarios, which I haven’t read so can’t vouch for. But they’re written by some big names, hopefully that’s a good sign. Dennis Detwiller, Ron Edwards, these are well-known names in the RPG trade.
Game’s tomorrow. More people still welcome.
I’ll come downstairs at 131 Queen St (opposite Vulcan Lane) at 6pm, and round up whoever’s there and take you up to the office. It’s secured, so you’ll need me to get you in.
If anyone turns up late and needs to be let in, call on 027-251-1343 and I’ll come down and get you.
Cheers everyone, definately fun all round. I do enjoy a good political game!
Totally exhausting though. Definately a lot more scope for more games around that ruleset - and I know there are others that would be keen to come and play if we ran it again.
Adam, what’s your estimated time until we can get the photos up? Feel free to email them to me for web hosting - exquire@gmail.com
Excellent game, I had a great time.
Definitely up for more!
Cool, I reckon that game has a great structure and the scenarios were thought-provoking. We had six players and it seemed like the perfect number. The issues were fairly deep. If we’d had more people I don’t think everyone would have got their say.
I particularly liked the point-scoring aspect, it provided a great impetus for trying to push your agendas.
Well played all!
We played the first two of the five scenarios that come with the game. The floor is definitely open to play the other three sometime. I may get around to organising it (or may not, I have a lot of ideas perculating), but if you can’t wait then I’m happy for anyone else to have a crack at running it (especially if it’s under LARPS). There’s really nothing to running it, and I’m happy to modify the banner I made for a new date and chuck it back up.
