Evidence of support from geek community required - URGENT!

Hi everyone,

As part of my application to be a registered celebrant again, I have been asked to gather a wider-range of support from members of the “geek community” which I intend to offer my services to as a celebrant.

As an efficient way of gathering as much support as quickly as possible, I’d like to invite those of you who would like to lend their support to me to leave a comment on this thread. I’ll be providing the URL of this thread to the Registrar-General, so please only leave comments on this thread that include:

Although it’s not yet completely mainstream, the burgeoning geek community is one with a very strong identity. It’s not always easy to find celebrants that understand and embrace the often unique humour and aesthetics that many of us hold dear. I think that Jaqueline Brasfield is the perfect example of what an amazing celebrant for geeks has the potential to be.

Geek culture is fast becoming a predominant and respected part of mainstream society, and those who ascribe to it are often unique in their views of the world, their curiosity for all facets of it, and their profound ability for tolerance and understanding. As with any community, however, the needs of it’s members are perhaps easiest to be understood and tended to not only by one of their own, but someone who is also an upstanding member of said community. Jacqueline Brasfield has shown herself to be a deeply caring and respectful person, with a great deal of intuition and integrity in dealing with others. She is a valued member of the geek community, and I can think of no one better to fulfil this role.

I’ve known Jacqueline Brasfield for 8 years, and through out that whole time have known her to be supportive of our community. She understands the things that drive us as ‘geeks’ and has handled celebrations in the past with grace, humour and affection.

Jacqueline would only be an asset as a celebrant, and I whole heartidly support her re-application.

In the time I have known Jacqueline she has always shown a keen interest in people and an acceptance of people in all their forms that is rare to see. I cannot think of anyone that would provide the acceptance and rational guidance required from a marriage celebrant to the Geek community better than Jacqueline

I have known Jacqueline for a while now, and it is my firm belief that she is of good standing with the ever developing Geek Community. She possesses both the intelligence and the sense of humour to interact with the interesting and unique people that make up the community. In this day and age it is very hard for many members of the Geek Community to find celebrants that would be willing to deal with their requests and it is my opinion that Jacqueline would be the perfect person to act as a Celebrant for the people who populate this community.

The main reason i believe Jacqui should be a celebrant is simple, because i’d want her to be my celebrant. In the short time i have known her she has shown me she is one of the kindest, most caring and genuine people i’ve ever met. In our community there is always at least one marriage on the horizon, and having Jacqui as a celebrant for us would make a massive part of the wedding that much easier to organize and sort out. She cares about our community and i can’t think of a kinder sould for the job.

In a burgeoning group of roleplayers that are entering the stage of life where partnering up and commitment is going to happen, there are going to be many people that would like to have a marraige made more special by being able to mix their favourite pastime with their vows of commitment. This may include dressing up in costumes in out of the way places, that a mainstream celebrant may be uneasy with. Being an integral part of the group, Jackie understands the fun and enjoyment this would bring to all those involved, and will make everyone welcome. Jackie is an experienced caring person. She understands where we are coming from.
