The St George’s Encampment is one of the annual SCA events held just North of Hamilton. Details here:

Everyone is very welcome, please make an attempt at medieval clothing.
This is a pretty low key event. We camp, some people in pavilions and some in bubble tents behind the pavilions. We cook over open fires and do a bit of fighting. Some people tend to do some craft stuff like building ovens from bricks, baking bread, making turn shoes etc.
Last year I built a forge, including building the bellows from scratch and making our own charcoal. I also showed people how to build curved plywood shields and we glued up three curved heater shields.
Some of the other lads built a spit and roasted a sheep.
Day trippers are very welcome. Anyone interested in seeing what the SCA is about will catch some aspects of the SCA.
