Early Medieval battle - March 18th

The Augustan 2nd Legion will be fighting the Norsemen on the 18th of March, on the lawn in Aotea Square. There may also be one-on-one gladiator fights.

Please come and watch, and if you can, dress up - in very early costumes. If you would like to be more involved, flick my very awesome Medieval literature tutor, Kerryn, an email and she’ll see what she can do. Can anyone juggle, or play some sort of in-period musical instrument?

Sorry to be picky but it is the 2nd Legion Augustus

I can play the oboe- which, when played badly, sounds a lot like the shawm which was around then. Doesn’t really look like a shawm though.

legio II augusta actually

Legio II Augusta, who were based at Rutupiae, now known as Richborough, Kent, England. I should know - I lived ten minutes down the road…

And Auckland Sword & Shield are joining in on the side of whoever gives them the most chocolate. Or at least, I am. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re all wrong.

It’s the 2nd of August, Legoland.
