DIY generic firearm concept

[quote=“mr_westie”]Some quick research leads me to pick these as the best off the shelf products.

Unfortunately Amazon only delivers those in the USA. Need to find another source for them that will deliver to NZ.

If you want a couple I can arrange with a US friend that ships stuff to me.

Funny thing is I saw that exact same model of lazer tag for sale in Farmers or Kmart… think global, act local :smiling_imp:
Still they may not be as cheap as ordered online but hey worth a try.

I will be going into farmers tonight os i’ll keep an eye out for them.
If they are < $100 I’ll grab a set to try :stuck_out_tongue:

Did ya have any luck with the lazer tag guff?

Someone is selling these top lazertag guns here for $80, bargain.

I wonder where they got them from?

Good find

Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to look around farmers when I was in there.

Might drop into Henderson and check them out this sat.

Also came across these

$40, not bad

I have a set of the Spy Gear laser tripwires, they are very handy.

Dropped into KMart Henderson today.
One of the staff said the lasertags things went on clearance 2 weeks ago at $30 a set :astonished:

Will drop into Toyworld when next near one.

Actually can someone that is not on dial up grab the flyer and tell us if they have them :stuck_out_tongue:

I download the lot and I couldn’t see any laser tag sets. But I would still be worth ringing in case they still have them in stock.

Two words

“Pic Chip”

.

Dropped into the new toyworld at St Lukes.
Nada.

Looks like us if we want those particular units.

Else make our own. :bulb:

Alista you want to get started

edit:
After more reading and thinking I will try and put something together this week.
Estimated cost, $10 sensor, $15 gun end

How the Ausie have gone about it

The bare bones system.
Will run on 2 alklines batteries.
Minimum voltage is 2.5v

On the TX side
$
0.50 Button
4.50 AVR T2313
0.50 IR LED
1.50 2xAA Battery holder

RX
0.50 Hit LED
3.00 AVR T13
3.00 TSOP34836 IR Rx
0.02 Resistor
1.50 2xAA Battery holder

Unfocused daylight range to be tested.
At night we should get 30-50m.

Note this system sends a full digital message.
Being micro controlled we can do ammo limits.
Variable damage etc.

Rather than sending the required number of pulses to get the receiver to respond.

If that was all we needed we could do it slightly cheaper but more components.
As used in this system

There would be a chance for false triggering though.

I did find another cheap deal, US$8 for a gun and chest plate.

Sounds wicked. Can’t wait to see the final product.

How do you program the controllers ?
