Connections

So I’m finishing up my Character for this, a savage tribal Queen, and am looking for other connections either from other savages, wanderer’s or even townies…

I will be playing Doc, the townie doctor who helps people in need through promises of trade or non aggression. He meets with people from out of town regularly, and if the tribe is anywhere nearby, chances are he has helped with a medical emergency in the past. Actually, same goes for any out of towners.

I’ll be playing Tic, from the Candymen tribe - we’re always looking for trade, new friends and new blood. I suspect we may have been visited by Doc before, and may or may not have met (and/or be friends with) members of other tribes…

I’m playing Berryl, a townie blacksmith. She wouldn’t know or care about the tribes but she would know the doc.

My Tribe is the feared Zenobia Tribe, of warrior women. They don’t get out often but what is known about them is, they are ruled completely by women, and men are seen as low and only suitable for caring for children and taking care of camp. The last person to hear from or speak to them was about 30 years ago. Rumor is though that they eat the men after the women have become with child.

bump

So that people see this thread too.

Im playing Cara the local prostitute and Healer. Im new in town having only been around for the last 6 months so if you want to connect please let me know

Sosa is one of the Militia that comes to collect taxes and recruits. He will also deal with bandits or wild beasts that trouble the town of Crosspire as well. He has travelled all over the lands claimed by the Free State Militia and is almost always seen with Fox.

Who is playing Fox? Also, my character has travelled widely and has probably met you several times in various places. Do you think Sosa would have been good to an honest travelling tinker?

Tom will definitely have met you. And he has probably scrounged up medical supplies for you in the past. And he would have given you a very reasonable price.

Also, let me know if your characters have lived in Crosspire or surrounding area for more than about 30 years. I will have extra info for you.

EDIT: To clarify, if anyone has a character who’s lived around here for 30+ years, let me know, particularly if you’re trying to decide whether your character is literate or not.

Fox is Sam.

And yes Sosa is rough and hard, and obviously of Savage stock. But the Militia and Sosa will protect townies, couriers are allowed to pass unmolested and wanderers are protected as long as they pay their taxes. He may have even travelled with you and protected you on the road.

Not as old as that though Fraser.

Well Tic looks in her early 40’s and has been with the Candymen tribe (who are based 2 or 3 days away from Crosspire) ever since she can remember, but can’t remember anything before that. So probably she (and her two younger brothers Buzz and Jaffa) has been in the area over 30 years at least. Or not, since she can’t remember…

…maybe some of the older characters might know something about her background before that…or might even be part of it…? Who knows…?

Oh, and Fraser, Tic is literate…

As Scott mentioned I’m playing Fox. Member of the militia, also had command of the Twin Pines Agricultural Farm for a while. She collects taxes and recruits, assists in keeping the Free State Militia domain clear of bandits/raiders and the wild beast that roam. This has lead her to wander far and wide. She’s pleasent enough if you stay on her good side. Generally always seen with Sosa.

Doc’s a multi-generation townie who is known to be an avid reader and collector of books, both fiction and non-fiction. So yeah, think that fits your description. Let’s chat before the game on this and on character back grounds, as I note your earlier point that we’ve done trading business in the past. Doc’s always got shopping lists for scavenged medicines and equipment.

Solomon is a wandering gunsmith. If your tribe are into custom firearms, they may have done business, otherwise it’s possible he has just passed through your territory

I’m playing Hawk. He’s never been seen in Crosspire before but he has traveled quite a bit. As a Bounty Hunter with a guarded past he only really has loose connections. So far he once bought a gun from Solomon, has a thief named Drake captive and met at least one other character in a bar on the other side of the map.

If anyone is playing an escaped slave I could offer you are pretty awful place to have come from. Though if you want your identity secret you might want to PM regarding that.

Or if someone was part of the local Free State Militia 15 years ago or more (even if you were just a kid) then it’s possible we could know each other.

…there’s a map??

Actually that’s a good question. I’m planning to have a reasonably crudely-drawn map from Playland to Crosspire, but is there some sort of semi-mass-produced thing that might be available, particularly if Crosspire is a trading town and want visitors (or themselves) to be able to find their way back?

Alternatively, if some characters have been in the area for a while, would their players be able to get a rough idea of where the closer main stuff (Militia Camp, direction of the main arc, farms etc) is in relation to each other?

I don’t know if there is, but I think I will have a map case of maps. Some of them useful, some of them not. That said it is way better to not have a map. Having crude maps like you say is much cooler. We don’t want to force the world into a shape, but seeing how it takes shape from various maps would be cool.

Hmmm. My character, Flora, lived on a farm in the same general area as Crosspire some 15-20 years ago. She’d have been a child at the time, but she has a brother who’s about ten years older than she is who, aside from her, was the only one to survive the illness that killed off the rest of their family. I’d like to give her a couple of long-lost friends or someone who knew her family/older brother (who isn’t a player character).

They also spent a couple of years wandering, and I haven’t really fleshed out what their adventures were during that time.

I’m playing “Perky” - It’s my common nickname - those with connections already have my actual name. Some may have overheard me being referred to as James.

I’m playing a wanderer from an Arc, I’m a Chemical Engineer, specialising in Chemical Stims. I was in Crossspire around 2 months ago, spent some time trading Chems (Stimulants, MedPacks, Hallucinogenics,) for food / items. Also assisted the Dr in doing some medical procedures, then had to leave suddenly when word came of the Militia arriving.

I’ve not been back to town since.

If anyone from town wants to spend some time talking to Perky, I’ll be at the Tavern most nights (Feel free to PM me for background discussions, I was in Crossspire for 3-4 weeks)
