We’re trying a new thing this year to help out the lovely new people who are coming for the first time. Would you like to be a Chimera Guide? This would basically mean wearing a cool hat at break times, being an approachable person for people with questions, and saying hello if you see anyone looking a little lost. We may also hook you up as a buddy for a couple of new attendees to check in with several times over the course of the convention.

Do I get to provide my own cool hat? 
I was thinking of getting some cheap and cheerful hats that are all the same colour, and bringing some kit for people to decorate as they please. Because Feathers Are Awesome.

I’m going to the $2 shop of awesome tomorrow. If you’d like me to pick up X number of colourful matching hats (say, cowboy style) lemme know and I can keep them at mine for you. The cowboy-type hats appeal cuz the brim keeps off sun and rain. And cuz I’m American. Yee-haw.

If there are some cool fixings you see that you like, and there’s budget left over, go ahead and get them at the same time so we can go to town at Chimera.
Eastern Washington is as dry as a bone and full of Indian reservations, ranches, cowboys and rodeos.
$20 should get us 6 hats. Not sure how many trimmings but I’ll try and get colourful enough hats so that trimmings aren’t really required. Sides, I know that personally, once I get to Chimera I’m going to be burnt out from costuming and will be looking forward to -not- working on anything!
