Chimera 2010
Eeeee MAGE!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

We can’t bug GMs until May 3rd, right?

twitch twitch I call dibs on Persephone!
We can bug the GMs? :open_mouth:

If you’re calling dibs… I quite fancy Aurora in the same LARP… but… so many great games! How will I ever decide!
crosses fingers that the LARPS I want to play don’t clash too badly…

Signed up, and certain monies will be forwarded to the Chimera people tomorrow when the internet transfer goes through hopefully. So add one more Hamiltonian to the mix.

Awesome, guys  We’ve got 27 registrations so far with a really good national spread (Auckland: 14; Wellington: 9; Hamilton: 3; South Island: 1)

No calling dibs or bugging the GMs of the game  Stand at the ready at your keyboards on May 31st when game selection goes live!

Is it me, or does the phrase “hungry sharks on chum” spring to mind?

It’s not just you.

A whole swag of new games has been added to our website (thanks Ryan!)

Check them out:
All the President’s Zombies - the President of the United States has called an urgent meeting discuss a very strange situation in the south…
Jade Empire: Zhen Zhu Chie - an Oriental fantasy
New Horizons: Fang Gogh - a standalone story from the Vampire:-The-Requiem-meets-Trueblood New Horizons campaign
Quest to the Forest of Darkness - classic fantasy larping
Requiem: Find Your Own Truth - a standalone story from the ongoing Interesting Times Requiem campaign
The Soap Opera larp - a Jeepform favourite of improvised hilarity

As Derek predicted, Auckland has overtaken Wellington in the race, but Wellington is still doing amazingly well. If we get one more from Wellington, we’ll have twice as many Wellingtonians as we did last year!

Wellington: 11
Auckland: 13
Hamilton: 3
South Island: 1

Hey Anna,

quick question that I know I asked at Wolfgangs but figured putting it out there for others would be good.

When will the timetable of games be going up so people can start plotting when they can play and what?

mostly wanting to see what is available and when to see if I come play or just GM

zannii has found a man with a camera that makes documentrys…stay tuned…

Any media presence will have to be approved first.

Hey guys,

Maybe it’s just me (and I can’t come so who cares!) but I don’t like the whole camera crew thing, I find it breaks my game completely, I become very conscious of the whole thing.

When I heard that you guys had a film crew last year a small part of me thought oh well never mind that I’m not going, at least I won’t have to dodge the camera crew. I just find myself cringing when I see my awful ham-fisted attempts at acting.

Last years documentary was well presented and a fair representation of the strange thing we do. I’ve seen a few films however that aren’t, and it’s very easy to make it look ridiculous (mostly because it often is, don’t forget).

I feel Larp needs to be experienced by someone rather than watched to understand it.

Just my thoughts.

Bryn.

P.S. I don’t have the same problem with pictures I’m vain enough to enjoy seeing pictures of myself in snazzy costumes… Just so long as the angle hides that extra chin.

last year the crew were very unintrusive and practically nijas so i didn’t seem to break immersion at all. i think it was fine… but you right there have been some terrible films made from larps however chimera is a great place to film because there are very few mechanics in the games, a lot of them being theatre style.

I’ve shared my experience with being followed around with the camera crew at last Chimera before - and the thought of a camera crew filming again sort of fills me with worry. I have to disagree about them not breaking the immersion. Some of my stronger memories involve the camera crew - rather than the game!

But I have faith in the Chimera team in managing the event.

I don’t want another documentary crew either. I spent quite a bit of time at three of the games I played (KS, Spy Hard, Great Ex) keeping away from the camera crew and I certainly kept away from the character Hugh played. Hope he didn’t have any plot relevance to my role.

They were very discreet, but they were still there, and at the time we had no idea how sympathetic or otherwise they would be.

I’d rather not have them. They weren’t unobtrusive at all.

Any offers of media attention at the event are carefully considered in terms of the impact they would have on the event, and the positive benefits it would have for the community. Simply because someone expresses interest in filming or otherwise doing media coverage of Chimera, does not mean they will be allowed. We’ve turned media attention away before. Your opinions expressed here have been taken on board. It is extremely unlikely we will have television coverage this year.

After signups, is there a specific date by which players will be notified of their games and characters?

I endeavour to get game confirmations to people about two weeks after the point they register. This is so we can do our juggling act of trying to get everyone into their preferred choices. It is up to each individual game organiser, once they receive their list of players and email addresses, to contact you about characters. Chimera Management strongly advises they communicate with the players in a timely manner but we can’t control it

I’m in. Payment to follow shortly.

+1 from California. Eeeeeeeee!
